69 Z28 14K miles
1 Attachment(s)
Original owner 69 Z28 with 14K miles. Glacier blue with black stripes, flat hood,no console,am/fm,tilt,rosewood wheel. Owner pulled it out of storage and sold it in April(missed oppourtunity) and car is being detailed/cleaned and kept original. Owner ordered car from Tom Brooks Chevrolet in Lenoir, NC and ordered it with the JL8 option and it kept getting delayed and finally got a letter saying the option wasn't available anymore or more delays so he scrapped that but had a JL8 service package installed with less than 500 miles. He then pulled the 302 around 2K miles and got a pre-production LT1 with experitmental(per the owner) from his dad that worked on a factory backed corvette race team. The owner pulled the LT1 prior to the sale and the 302 is now back in it. The owner had 4 NOS chambered exhaust systems, 2 for Camaros and 2 for 69 Chevelles, he let one go with the sale of the Z. The only non #'s matching component is a M22. The owner had planned to SCCA road race it. Car was in storage since 1973. Here are some pics.

These dusty garage find cars poppin' up lately . . . all I can say is "WOW!".
|
Great looking find! And have to love a 715 interior :worship:
|
Same color combo as my 69 Judge :) Love it
|
Where is car now?
|
Now THAT is what constitutes a survivor. Very nice!
|
Cool car, and love to hear more about the history....

What a find! Thanks for posting! Man those letters from Chevrolet saying the JL8 was unavailable would be nice historic documents - they long gone? Sweet car.

Was it an Endura bumper car?
|
That number in the inspection sticker almost looks like it could be the VIN?

Do you know if the front brakes were upgraded to JL8 calipers/rotors to match the service package rear?
|
----Did the new owner yank off the spoiler while detailing it as it appears to not be original?......Bill S

Earliest known production JL8 car was 02D at Norwood.

nice find. real survivor. Best wishes to the new owner. I believe there are more cars out there. Bring them on.

Great car and great score for someone. Any chance we can see some pictures now that it's reportedly cleaned and detailed?
I'd also be curious to know how the owner/buyer came across the car. Lastly, will it be driven...or is it collection bound. |
Very nice looking car ,Looks to be a non spoiler car according to the deck lid stripes ..

Wow, that's interesting about the JL8. My dad said he went through the same process with trying to order JL8 with his 'base' X77 car, but it kept getting delayed. I thought he was delusional or not recalling things correctly after 40+ years ago, considering everything I've seen said that wasn't an option until Feb/Mar 69. I may have to apologize to him :)
Do we know when that option was available to order? Sweet car, I love the blue interior with the Glacier. Would like to see more pics after it has been detailed. |

My 69 SS Chevelle was sold new at Tom Brooks Chevrolet as well. The car in my avatar. Hard to find any dealer info on that dealership.
Very cool Z. Thanks for sharing. Phil W. |
does anyone know if any 69 camaro straight 6 JL8 cars exist. I would like to own one.
|
I thought Kurt S said there was at least 1 known one still around. OR maybe I am confusing this with another non z/28 JL8
|
I believe a guy that frequents here has a straight 6 JL8 car. maybe he will chime in
