1970 Jungle Jim Camaro Funny Car Body
Not mine, just passing it on.
https://rmn.craigslist.org/pts/d/197...373810839.html Selling a very historic funny car body used by Jungle Jim in 1970 and 71. Pete Williams drove the car (Red) with Jungle on the car. Car was repainted (Blue) and driven By Jungle in 1971. This is the body only. would be a great hanger with fresh paint, or go the long route and put this beast back together. I have all the provenance for proof of this claim. I have all the history and photos to send along with the new owner. Drop a call if interested. Thanks, Ken 507 358-8700 https://images.craigslist.org/00D0D_...wU_600x450.jpg |

Amazing guy and toys, he's got a couple P-51's too! Thanks for sharing that Bruce! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Not doubting this guys claim, But back when I had my 69 camaro funny car, I was offered two different cars that were claimed to be this same car.
|
Now that is very cool. Hopefully it goes to someone who will do it some justice

I fellow I knew here in Schertz was drag racer Henry Gutierrez, the owner of the Nostalgia Jungle Jim Vega and Brand X Mustang tribute Funny Cars. Tragically, he was shot to death Dec 24, 2015 on Christmas Eve. That crime has still not been resolved.
In drag racing, when Gutierrez decided to build a Nostalgia Funny Car, the choice was obvious. “Jungle is arguably the most famous racer to ever go down the quarter-mile, at least in Funny Car,” Gutierrez said in an article published at the following link http://www.superchevy.com/features/c...berman-camaro/. “He was to drag racing back then what John Force is to the sports today.” TAZ |

Another difference I noted was that the body for sale has the marker light indents under the headlights/bumperettes, where the JJ cars that I see do not.
Also the bumperettes are mid "grill" on this car and on the JJ car, sit much lower. Unless as was said there are several JJ car bodies. Rich |
Here's a cool page I came across on JJ:

Ok after a closer reading of the ad, looks like this body matches the body of "a" Red JJ car driven by Pete Williams for Jungle (I should have read the ad closer).
http://www.70sfunnycars.com/Photos/bbJJ%2070.JPG From the site above, the PW JJ car does seem to me to match the same body type of the one for sale. Quote:
So, it seems that the blue car was based on a 72 Camaro and the Red car a 70. Rich |
69LM1 .. That was an awesome little clip about his relationship with Briggs Chevrolet
