After 2+ months of effort and dickering, I am happy to report that this car is now in my garage! As-found pics, and one tonight of it sitting in my garage! More info and pics to follow tomorrow, but here's a summary:

- One family owned from 1967 to 2017. Parked inside in 1980 and not moved until two months ago.
- 57K actual miles
- Mostly original black paint
- Original black vinyl top
- Original black interior
- Original drivetrain, never out of car -- L78, M21, 3.73 posi
- Original exhaust system -- ALL of it -- and it's in good condition!!
- Original shocks
- Original spare tire
- Factory options -- Bumper guards, tinted glass, buckets, console, deluxe belts, AM radio w/ rear speaker, factory floor mats, F40 suspension. Original owner added a wood steering wheel.
- Dealer invoice, POP, and every NC annual inspection receipt verifying mileage from new until the last inspection in 1980.

The gentleman who bought the car a little over 2 months ago was going to do a full frame off. But it will be preserved now!

Many, many thanks to Terry Davis (Terry Davis Body and Paint, Wytheville VA) for alerting me to this car when he heard about it!!

How do you guys do it? That would be a dream come true for me. There are very few cars that I love as much as a '67 Chevelle with a big block and a 4 speed. This one is so great that I would be sleeping next to it in the garage.

67since67 10-06-2017 04:22 AM

Congrats on getting the deal done Jeff!!

L78M22Rag 10-06-2017 04:53 AM

Thanks everybody. I'll try to make time to get some more pics off my phone and post them. But we're in full court press trying to finish the 67 L78 Elcamino for MCACN, so time is short right now!!

Nuzum-Cross Chevy in Newton NC-- now known as Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet! Smoky Mt. Traders has a red 67 listed now with a Nuzum-Cross nameplate on the rear panel. Wouldn't mind having that plate!

The 15x6 Americans will be getting shod with some old-school white letter tires and put back on the car. The gentleman who I got the car from actually found a pair of matching 15x7's at the Autofair and bought them, so I have those too. Have to decide whether to go with the fatter ones on the rear or stick to the matched set the car wore for 49 years!

Your thoughts?

Charley Lillard 10-07-2017 12:43 AM

Give it to me ?:naughty:

You already know my thoughts Jeff, I'd not break up that matched set. But cool either way!

I agree with Bill. Love Americans!

sixt9rsx33 10-07-2017 12:53 PM

That is a great find! Congrats, and have fun with the preservation. So much fun preserving vs. restoring....IMO.

GM Powertrain 10-07-2017 01:35 PM

At a loss for words for this one. Congrats!

tom406 10-07-2017 10:45 PM

I would definitely run the 15x6s as a matched set. That doesn't mean you can't have a set of tall cheater slicks on the 15x7s tho.....

markjohnson 10-08-2017 06:40 AM

1967 L78's are just crazy rare & this is an incredible find.

scott s 10-08-2017 06:55 PM

Wow!!! Iam in love......Congrats...
