looks like 9N632486?
|
but we have later VINs that are 03E build.
|
The body tag date is not a 'build date'.
ZL1s #1 & #2 have 12E tags; plenty of 12C and 12D cars had later VINs. |
Crg shows it to be a april build date !!
|
N632486 was final-assembled on or about Tuesday, April 22.
Many ZL1s have 02D body tags and were final assembled March 4-March 12. Our '67 Z28 had an 06E tag and was final-assembled July 12, 1967. The body tag date is not a 'build date'. |

Sonny Tindal is still bustin' up the 1320 to this day.

The body tag week indicated on the TT approximates the build start. There are always exceptions, but why would Chevrolet put anything in that spot on the TT if it means nothing? Do you have many 04A and 04B TT weeks recorded in the CRG date base?
|
Chevrolet didn't put it there; Fisher Body did. As John Z has stated, the body tag meant nothing to Chevrolet assembly. They had no need to reference it.
The date on the tag indicates when it was released to production by Fisher Body. Fisher regularly skipped weeks; June & July 1969 are perfect examples. Some cars at Van Nuys with 04D and 05A tags were built in June. Some 05A units were built in July. Norwood '67 Camaro N100001 has an 09B tag. Our db has over 150 '67s with earlier tag dates, a few back to May '66. |

As a side note D-11-9 is the correct known casting date for the BE0416 rear.
|
FWIW...my Z/28 still had its original diff in it after 45 years of racing and 5 owners who never removed it. When I got it, the car still had ladders bars welded to the diff and the date stamp was covered.
I'm assuming this car still has ladder bars under it and the race suspension is still there? Haven't seen any complete pics of the underside? |

That sure seems like a fair price and a relatively easy resto. Kinda surprised it hasn’t sold.
