A good friend takes a loss, his 1973 Z-28

This was Jeff`s 1973 Z-28 Camaro on Friday May 26th. Jeff had Ryan at RG Exhaust....(rgexhaust.com) install one of his amazing complete stainless steel exhaust systems.
Jeff has owned his Z-28 for over 20 years.

This was Saturday May 27th. Jeff had a terrible misfortunate accident. His '70 Camaro is a complete loss. Luckily Jeff is Alive....he is sore, bruised, stitched up....he swallowed his pride and we are ALL so happy he is still with us.

Wow...like Rick said...glad he's not hurt!

NorCam 06-05-2017 03:29 AM

Glad to hear he's OK and on the mend. This one gets my vote as a replacement car.

It's currently listed in the classifieds but doubt it will last long.

L78M22Rag 06-05-2017 05:40 AM

Whoa, those are frightening photos. Glad to hear that he's alright!

John 06-05-2017 07:04 AM

Wow!

Glad he's still around to talk about it!

Best of luck in finding a replacement.

Steve Shauger 06-05-2017 12:49 PM

Wow, count his blessings he's ok. The car is easily replaced!

Postsedan 06-05-2017 01:32 PM

I also wanted to add, just for the record. There was NO alcohol involved in this accident. It was just a freak and unfortunate mishap....after a heavy rain storm.....wet pavement.

markinnaples 06-05-2017 07:01 PM

Wow, terrible damage, glad he's OK. Man, that was a sharp Camaro.

Stefano 06-05-2017 09:07 PM

You are one Lucky guy, in many respects ; )

Jim Ferron 06-05-2017 09:21 PM

Sheet metal is cheap and plentiful for that car.
Crazy not to fix it. Guys panic over roofs...

Really not that big of a deal.

that car has been listed and resisted and sold and resisted and sold and resisted many, many times

It is in the general area if anyone needs a pair of eyes on it ... I have have my 70 Z28 for 40 years ... in hibernation on jack stands for 18 or so now ... :-(

Great to know everyone's Ok, what the heck happened?
Jim's right on as my first thought was fix the car too, especially so after a 21 year relationship!
If car being paid out by insurance, best ask for a keep the car/lesser payout amount?
:beers:

X4

Keep it and fix it.

Stage_2 06-06-2017 12:23 AM

I most definitely plan on keeping it.

ANDY M 06-06-2017 01:22 AM

Yeah, that'll buff right out. "A" pillar prone to rust, so like Rusty said, no big deal.
Cars can be fixed, not as easy for people. Glad you're OK.

I'm glad Jeff is ok. My son had my '70 Z28 back in 2009 and a young lady turned in front of him. My concern was with both drivers and they were fine. We took about eight months and got this Camaro back to where it was before the incident. I never thought it would be the same.

Glad to hear everyone is ok. Looks like a nice Z. Makes me sick to see these cars get into accidents.

John 06-06-2017 05:23 PM

.... Dan, I tried to send a PM but I do not think it went thru ...

.... So show your buddy this.... :beers:

Being that he's owned it over 20 years I would just fix it

The Boss 06-07-2017 12:25 AM

I would start with getting that video off of Youtube though.

MR BQE 06-07-2017 01:26 AM

Thats a real shame! - One second everything is running great and out of the blue something unexpected happens in a heartbeat! Glad he's OK

Jonesy 06-09-2017 02:00 AM

I would try to fix it too.

ronzz572 06-09-2017 01:55 PM

Glad he is ok Dan. I would fix it. I've had my 70 z28 since 1980. I would never give up on a major repair like his car does to get it back on the road.

resto4u 06-10-2017 11:56 PM

That car is really fixable with parts available today. It has to be put on a frame rack and pull things back into shape. If someone just tries cutting and replacing panels with out pulling into shape, it will never work.

Stage_2 06-11-2017 08:13 PM

I realize anything can be "fixed" but once fixed isn't more of a safety concern?

Bill Pritchard 06-14-2017 04:26 AM

If you don't mind a vinyl top, here's a nice 73 Z, and it's in WI to boot....

WOW...what a great car with an amazing story!!! Looks like he's less than an hour away. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately almost 3 weeks later still waiting for the insurance company to get their head out of there a$$.

mr 707 06-14-2017 11:30 AM

fix it

that will buff right out.

Billohio 06-14-2017 01:31 PM

That silver 73 is great. I am not a silver fan but with the wheels and black top that is striking

resto4u 06-18-2017 01:14 AM

I have seen the z posted on nasty-z. It is original paint. The paint on the left front fender was all checked by the headlight and very light surface rust. The last time i talked to the owner, he said it was going to the paint shop. I do not know if he had a blend or a complete repaint.

If he did a complete repaint on that, he's out of his mind!
