Little fender bender today...

Well, maybe more than a fender got bent.

Today, my wife said goodbye to her beloved 2006 Mustang thanks to some young girl who apparently felt red lights didn't apply to her on this day.

Luckily, my wife is ok, aside from a few bumps and scrapes. The air bag deployment did beat her up a bit though. X-rays say she's good.

Guess I won't be fixing that bit of rust on the hood now.

Ouch! Glad to hear that the wife is OK. You really see the amazing engineering in modern cars when you see how the front end sacrificed itself keeping the passenger compartment completely intact.

Yes, ouch! Glad she's ok.

Our plan before the accident was to buy a new Mazda CX5 SUV within the next few months and store the Mustang in the garage. I guess we'll be buying the SUV a little sooner than expected.

Yes, the other woman was ok. Just bleeding from her nose a little.

My wife had the green arrow for a left turn and proceeded. The girl (coming from the opposite direction) ran her red light...and bingo. Her car was damaged to the same extent.

Glad your wife is OK.

Looks like the crash management performed very well on that Mustang.

SS427 05-23-2017 10:21 PM

Glad to hear all is well with your wife. The car can and will be replaced.

I agree, the engineering did its job. The windshield didn't even crack.

Lucky the Mustang wasn't t-boned!

If my wife would have started her left turn a second sooner, that's exactly what would have happened.
