I believe he is mistaken about the "special order paint." Fathom Blue was a RPO color in 1968

Special paint

It was only available in early 68. This is a late car. If you look on the other document you can see that it says special paint.

OOPS! You are right. Went from RPO to SP beginning Jan. 1968 Thanks for the correction.

MosportGreen66 04-24-2017 11:53 PM

I like this car a lot... 68s are growing on me

u would think u would see a charge for the ss 396 equip on the paperwork?Just says 68 spt cpe.

fathom 04-25-2017 02:32 AM

I think it is odd that it just says sport coupe on that piece of paper too. If you click on the link there is another document on there showing that the car came equip with a 396/325hp engine.

scuncio 04-25-2017 03:29 AM

Neat car, only 144 cars away from my L78.

cook_dw 04-25-2017 12:15 PM

My dealer invoice from Curtis person is the same way . It list many of the options but not the motor. But it does list the total options at over 1200.00

I'm just curious as why the car was sold in Tenn to someone in Janesville Wisconsin .

Love the car though.

cook_dw 04-26-2017 11:53 AM

Could have been a soldier from Wis that was stationed in Memphis (Millington).

One document shows NAS Memphis which I believe is Naval Air Station Memphis.

cook_dw 04-26-2017 04:23 PM

Ding ding ding.

ACDELCO427 04-26-2017 05:44 PM

Not for nothing, but if you saved those two documents wouldn't you still have the window stickers and the pop.

Yah, I have no idea why this has lasted this long. Has anyone called on it here and found anything out?

Hawkeye 04-29-2017 11:54 PM

Was this at MCACN this past year in the car coral?

Thanks,

Marty

Yes, it was.

Saw this one for sale on Ebay tonight, still a pretty nice deal for a car with great equipment....

Isn't the tail panel paint supposed to be flat or semi gloss black on big block cars? That looks gloss black? Legitimate question as I'm not sure which is right. Beautiful car either way!

subyman99 06-17-2017 12:25 PM

Mine is pretty glossy on my 68 l78 survivor

NorCam 06-17-2017 12:32 PM

Decent looking car for the money. Wonder what the bottom is like?

Charley Lillard 06-17-2017 07:07 PM

Any survivor I have seen has a glossy black versus a satin that most seem to spray.

For those Camaros that had the black painted rocker panels, would that black match the rear panel of an SS 396 car . . . gloss black?

----I was the 3rd owner of this great 396/375 Camaro. By the time I got the car in 1979 it had been cleared all over in an attempt to make the original silver paint show worthy. The rear panel may have been cleared as well, so I wouldn't use this Camaro as an example. Doesn't mean it isn't an absolutely cool ride anyway.......Bill S

cook_dw 06-18-2017 02:31 PM

You also cant use GM promotional photos as those cars received "show paint".. But Charlie is correct. A lot of original cars were a high level of gloss from the factory. I also believe there were some that received a lower level of gloss from the factory. This debate will never be confirmed unfortunately.

Hideous repop air cleaner. Love the car otherwise!

scuncio 06-27-2017 03:41 AM

It's back up with a $1000 haircut...now $31k. I still like this one, albeit with some crispiness under the vinyl top.

The only thing that turns me off on this car is the engine and booster in relation to the rest of the car.. I do like the dealer emblem though.

camaromb 06-27-2017 09:09 PM

Bill,

The 10k mile L78 from Tenn looks gold to me??!! I don't think it's the silver one you owned.

original shroud. Could've bought one from bob Harris and no one would talk about it. His honesty has people talkin

scuncio 06-29-2017 01:12 AM

Looks fixable. I'd rather have the original shroud.

Price has dipped to $29,500.
