New format for the site

I will be the first to say I spoken with a lot of people on this site and I have gotten a lot of negative feedback in regards to the new format and the way that you have to navigate the site I would have to say I strongly agree that I do not care for the present layout

earntaz 03-05-2017 09:16 PM

At almost 72 years old -- looks like I need more "edgeamication" ... may need some help figuring it out!! Thanks -- TAZ

Copo_Cartel 03-05-2017 09:21 PM

You are not alone I have heard that from a lot of people

lbnaz 03-05-2017 10:29 PM

How do you PM someone on the site now. Thanks, Larry

Mr. Chevy 03-05-2017 11:01 PM

Larry, go to the User CP tab in the upper left corner of the screen, click on it and tab down and you will see where you can send a PM.. This also allows you to edit/see your profile..

marxjunk 03-06-2017 12:13 AM

i dunno..if you change the skin to default, its just a v8 bullitin site..just about like everyone else on the net..

go all the way to the bottom of any screen..in the big blue line, left sidel theres a drop down..select default..it is easier..

get used to changes like this..its coming..the age of mobile devices have made the changes necessary for compatibility

Bill Pritchard 03-06-2017 01:06 AM

IIRC, even the 'old' format wasn't always that way, it changed from something else too. Just takes some time getting used to, that's all.

L72copocamaro 03-06-2017 03:12 AM

Not a fan. I've always believed if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

BJCHEV396 03-06-2017 03:29 AM

I'm slowly getting the hang of it.I don't like change but it's inevitable.

chevyman0429 03-06-2017 11:53 AM

Not a fan of the new layout.

Abiddle 03-06-2017 01:44 PM

I had some PM conversations in progress. But no responses and no PMs since the new format. Are people receiving PMs?

Xplantdad 03-06-2017 01:55 PM

The upgrade had to happen. The old site was too vulnerable to attacks. It's not all that different, once you go into your user CP and set everything up.

Jody has been working really hard to get this all fixed (no small feat)-and thanks to Charley for the upgrade (it ain't cheap!)

Give it a few weeks and it will all be good!:youguysrock:

mockingbird812 03-06-2017 02:44 PM

What Bruce said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seventieshow 03-06-2017 02:58 PM

"It's not all that different"...I agree, it's not much different to me. I like the dark text on the light background, I think it's easier to read.

BJCHEV396 03-06-2017 04:18 PM

Thanks Jody and Charley!

Any idea how I can get it to show me which forums have new posts since my last visit, other than looking at the day of the last post? Also, how do I switch it to take me to the first new post since I've visited last? Thanks every, esp Charley for the site. I was having serious withdrawals when it was down. :)

supersix 03-07-2017 12:01 AM

I like it. The forum skin in Edit Options, "Default Style" is very familiar to other forums that I frequent.

old5.0 03-07-2017 01:12 AM

Everyone hated the old format when it was new, too. Just give it a few days.

flyingn 03-07-2017 01:38 AM

PxTx 03-07-2017 02:39 AM

Working through it and will adjust. I wasn't able to make a post using the Youtube button. Do I need to adjust how I do it?

We should be pleased we have a site such as this to frequent. The rest will be dealt with in time and will become non issues. Thanks to Charley for keeping it going.

We've still got a big list of mods for the site, appreciate your patience. There's a reason that pretty much every big car forum is Vbulletin, it's just a great system with a lot of options. Swapping over just gives you a standard setup, and then you have to tweak from there.

How do I change to central time right now it is 3:34 Chicago time and the site says 9:34 GMT?

Bill,

Click on user cp (upper left of the page) Click user options, then scroll down to date and time and you'll see an adjustable time zone box you can set to your time zone. Set it, click "save changes" at the bottom and it's done.

IM RARE 03-09-2017 01:35 AM

Jody, Here's a hint for you and others. I live in the EST zone but I had to choose CST for the time to appear correctly. IF it doesn't get fixed, just select one time zone earlier than where you are.

Verne
