Sounds great! Looks like it was converted in '82.

I am usually a fan of the large Cragar wheel but on this car with the combo of smalls up front it looks wrong and after reading the old post about this thing I sure hope if someone considers buying it that they will do their research. Like the board said in 2015 ... sounds like a fish story

Well, no, because their buddy bid it up to 185K for them...

If the conversion took place in 1969 then it would be worth the asking price.

If it was a reserve auction the auction house will typically bid it up close to the reserve. Auction houses disclose that. Apparently his reserve was above that at the time but now he is lowering the price trying to find a buyer.

I know this an old post (sorry for being so late to the game)... the car is still out there and I'm interested, I mean the components seem to be good (and documentation to go with it, although it's difficult to tell if that was really the receipts used by yenko and Jenkins). I agree that it is odd someone would go to the trouble in 1982 to get the car modified by don and grumpy- timeline seems wonky. I'm curious how the true yenko community sees the value on the car- is it simply an L-78 + can am engine value (70k?) or is there value in the paperwork that was presented?

As a car, it's super cool. But it do t want to pay up on it if it is an "illegitimate" or undocumented or unrecognized (by the peer group here) yenko Nova. I will suspect if it has been for sale for ~3 years all of you have passed on it for a reason?

Thanks John! I have a good amount of knowledge, but I hope to learn a lot here as well - and eventually join the owners club!

For anyone that can help, I would be extremely grateful. I could send some more detailed pictures of the car and the pictures of a few documents that have been provided to me if anyone can help determine the originality/legitimacy of them, in helping determine if this is a wise purchase or a wild goose chase! :))

'

Best of luck w/ your quest and welcome to the madness!
As in previous threads here also again if paperwork genuine, someone needs to lose the smoky stories and let this cool original Yenko sold L78 w/ 1982 added Jenkins built Yenko ZL1 stand proudly as what it is alone.

Re: 1969 Nova sold at Yenko Jenkins zl1

.... It would seem logical that if the car bid to $185,000 in 2015 at Mecum Harrisburg auction

.... AND it was a legitimate bid .... I would think that if he put it in this years auction in Harrisburg

.... with a lower reserve ( with all the documentation and history of this car )

.... it would have surely gone up in value

.... so let see if it shows up there this year

Re: 1969 Nova sold at Yenko Jenkins zl1

If it's the car I'm thinking of, (black, Yenko PoP, build order from Yenko to Jenkins in '82'ish...), the value is hurt by the timing - '82 is just too late for it to equal the values of the batch that were transplanted in '69. Personally, I think each of the pieces are quite valuable on their own, and the final combination is very cool - it's just not equal value. If the bid to $185k was real (??) then its not valued much higher than a '70 Yenko Deuce. Again, JMHO.
