Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
Sorry it is Bubbletop and is out of Kentucky. Car has been off the road since early 80's
It is Rust Free with no repairs ever done to it. |
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
John is there a number I could contact you regarding this car? If you prefer PM me a message with a contact information. One of my new year resolutions was that I am going to get all my project cars done and not buy any more but I love those 61 Catalina bubbletops. I have 2 now, one nearing completion, its black red interior tri power 4 speed, radio heater delete, superduty hood scoop etc.

Uh-oh....looks like a resolution is in danger of being broken.... |
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
Yes it would be easier and probably healthier for me to keep a resolution to lose weight than stop buying cool old cars. I will call you tomorrow John, Thanks.

Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
Wonder if that is the original color combo, normally the lighter color would be on top. Looks great though
|
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
The original color was white top and bottom.
|
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
NICE, I have the CANADIAN version of that called Parisienne. Body isn't as nice and it needs some work, but we believe it's original BLACK paint with the red interior. And CANADIAN cars came with CHEVY drivelines. Mine has a 409/425++ and 4sp.
|
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
I have been told that the Canadian versions that came with chevrolet motors also shared the X frame with chevrolet. Can you tell me if this is true or not? I really don't know these canadian cars are new to me.
|
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
YES this is true. The Canadian cars car basically Implala with Pontiac bodies. So say this 1961 PONTIAC would have came with a 283 or 348 as I do not think 409 was available to the Canadian Pontiacs.
|
Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
409 in Canadian Pontiacs in 63-65. I will post picture of 63-409 400Hp breather, shortly.

Re: 1961 Pontiac Catalina project
Man that's a pretty car.
|
I am sure there may be a rule against this, but I am going to jump on John's earlier ad here. I bought this car from John earlier this year and it is everything John advertised it to be but I now have three 61 Catalina bubbletops and don't need all of them. So if anyone has the desire to restore a nice rust free Catalina, I will sale this car for just what I have invested in it. I have $13,500 in the car and don't have to make money on it but don't insult me with any number less than my investment. If interested it is best to call me 217-620-3405 name is Mick and the car is in Illinois
