$50,000.00 For a bare block? That's crazy.

He may want the block to be reunited with the Matching Car.
It looks like the VIN is 124379N637393

Regardless of what he'd take for it, good on him for trying to hook it back up with the right car.

Or...one could be trying to find the car it goes with simply bc the sell price is higher for that owner than to anyone else. If I had just bought a load of stuff and was trying to sell it all off, I'd be trying to make the most bang for my buck...which in this case means finding the car it came out of.

would you tell him you had the car or just offer him 15,000-20,000

Re: 1969 GM 3963512 ENGINE 427 L72 REAL COPO MO

Good question. I think if I actually had the car then I would not mention it and offer him the money. There's always the chance someone could hold it hostage.

But that's my opinion, which I've been told before isn't worth much

I think anyone offering $15k+ for this motor would have to also own the car, or have a lead on its whereabouts. Not sure who would pay that kind of money for it otherwise.

He set a high price for that he wants the owner of Matching Car to contact him.
Absolutely right imo so that the block does not end up in a clone.
Or that someone buys the block and locate the car and buy it cheap

IMO, I don't think the pad stamping is original.
The registry is incorrect on the VIN, it's 9N637393. But the window sticker is a reproduction. Is there other proof the car is a COPO?
I wonder if the block wasn't stamped for the car and somehow they got separated.

Or maybe the stampers weren't completely happy w/ their result and created another "better" forgery leaving this one behind?
Below stamping pics are of subject block from the eBay listing.

Someone went way out of their way to fake this one.
Block almost surely was decked to get that clean of a pad.

I don't know if that block is real, but I know where that car was a few years ago.
I am going to have to make a road trip this weekend.

And before I get anymore calls, NO the owner wouldn't sell it.

A car with that VIN does not make it COPO
