That was the head used on the 71 454/425hp Chevelle....sounds like a great build. Any dyno numbers??

I think Chevrolet intended to use the head on this engine but they never made a 454/425 Chevelle.

Re: 1967 Chevelle 300/427

It is my understanding a limited number of engines were produced and urban legend say a few pre-production cars were actually made

Colvin's book lists the engine for 1971 and I've seen other literature showing the engine as an option that was 'cancelled' very early before any cars were built.

Here are a couple of links that discuss this very topic...

Those #026 heads have to be a pretty rare item...

Only in 1969 the SS396 was available on a base line 300 Deluxe model in either a Hardtop (coupe) or a 2 Door Post Sedan Model.

The Chevelle sold last fall. Thanks for the compliments. As far as the 61 Pontiac Catalina it is expected out of the paint shop anytime now after all it is only 14 months past the promise date. The Catalina is a 389 original motor, tri power 4 speed, black exterior and red interior, knock offs and wide whites, radio delete, heater delete I think, I haven't decided for sure on the heater yet. I have 2 other Catalina bubbletops in line to do and I know the next one is going to be delete everything with slicks, dog dish, super duty hood scoop and factory headers etc.

mprice 08-16-2017 02:51 AM

Correction to previous post 8 lugs not knock offs.

GrumpyJeff 08-22-2017 11:32 PM

Im still kickin myself for not buying the L79 68 Chevelle !!!
