X22 COPO
I bought a race car 2 1/2 years ago
VIN 124379N583326 Garnet Red, Vinyl Top, 4 Speed. http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u...psuqekdkgz.jpg X2 http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u...psvvfwzern.jpg 427 m http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u...psojdxv4vd.jpg http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u...psbudztva2.jpg 9737 http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u...pspeormqff.jpg |
Re: X22 COPO
Nice
|
Re: X22 COPO
Can you post a pic of the trim tag?
Still have the 140 speedo? Thanks! |
Re: X22 COPO
No Trim Tag and no speedometer.
Not much remains of the parts, Ford 9 inch rear end. |

Re: X22 COPO
how about a shot of the top of the outside fuse block?
|
Re: X22 COPO
Early COPO, no hole for the ZL2 Wire above the fuse block.

Re: X22 COPO
Maybe its just me but I don't see the factory crayon lettering enough to read them at all? Early non-ZL2 Copo??
|
Re: X22 COPO
Take a look at the first 50 Yenko cars in 1969
|
Re: X22 COPO
So the first 50 Yenkos built in Jan '69 did not have ZL2 ???
|
Re: X22 COPO
Yes they have ZL2, but not the hole over fuse box.
They have the hole in the Center of the Firewall |
Re: X22 COPO
124379N587056 not the best Yenko but you can see the hole

Re: X22 COPO
Just curious but what rules this out as being a 396 with ZL2?
|
Re: X22 COPO
It has 427 m written in the Fender extensions and 9737 in the Tunnel
I have cleaned the firewall of Paint today and there are some interesting things written there. |
Re: X22 COPO
I must be blind. I can't read a thing.
|
Re: X22 COPO
Looks like N587056 is missing all the ZL2 wiring, missing the relay, no grommet/wiring to the switch in the hood, etc. Not the best example of a ZL2 equipped car.
I've never seen a factory ZL2 equipped car without the wiring hole pierced above the main wiring hardness hole in the firewall, including the 50 Jan. '69 built Yenko Camaros. |

I give up

Don't give up. Just being objective. A COPO car is hard enough to prove as it is, and if it is a true real early COPO like you believe, you should stake your claim. I did see the M on the lower fender extension, but could not see the 427 markings. It could have been this https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...530_211513.jpg for all we know. And honestly, the markings on the cowl weren't all that clear. If you cleaned it up and you can read it better, post up the photos. |
Re: X22 COPO
Here are pics before and after spraying Boeshield on the crayon marking of the Blue RS ZL1. You might do something similar.

Re: X22 COPO
Aaah -- the secret is out ... in my USAF days we had Boeshield T-9 on benchstock. That stuff can be used for so many different things. I've used it to preserve alum moldings after stripping and repolishing them. I think it was originally used for preventing corrosion on alum surfaces. TAZ

Sorry if I missed it but have you already sent/recv'd an NCRS Dealer shipped to report? Just thinking it may be worth trying to track info from the other end? Best of luck and like Matt said, don't give up! ~ Pete |
Re: X22 COPO

where can you get this Boeshield? |

Re: X22 COPO
SEARS carries it,so do certain tool stores around me.. http://www.sears.com/boeshield-t90004-t-...mp;gclsrc=aw.ds
Used to protect bare metal parts with very close tolerances like aileron controls that can't be painted. |
Re: X22 COPO
thx,

Re: X22 COPO
Marlin -- I found it at Bass Pro Shop ... TAZ

Re: X22 COPO
<span style="font-weight: bold">FLUID FILM</span> is comparable to BOESHIELD T-9 in my estimation !!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: X22 COPO
Assuming you are deciphering the markings correctly,(no need to think otherwise) I think you have something there !! But, I would definitely try and take a video..or have an authority look at the markings in person. I know the markings on my L-78 Indy that confirmed the M-22 were very difficult to read, but very present. Good luck with it !!!
|
Re: X22 COPO
i can see red and c08 vinyl top in yellow crayon, the other writing across the firewall is of a different style? the letters even look fatter? take some shots at different angles with and without sunlight.
|
Re: X22 COPO
I don't recall ever seeing any factory/production docs that refer to it as a L72.
|
Re: X22 COPO
If I would have faked the car, I had drilled the hole at the fuse box.
The things that are written on the firewall is not in Paint. it is rust. |

She has X2, 427 m on the Fender extension, 9737 in the tunnel, 427 and L72 on the firewall and you are saying that it is not a L72 Car? |
Re: X22 COPO
Its really hard to see much except the CO8. The 427 as noted looks like a Z21 to me. Its odd that 9737 appears in the tunnel?
|
Re: X22 COPO
I have seen other double Copos with 9737 in the tunnel
|
Re: X22 COPO
believe me I would love to see it turn out to be a copo, but we need more data/photos to help you what is the vin #
|
Re: X22 COPO
VIN is 124379N583326
Its also written 9561 before ORDE K79 N10 M22 Top center after 52 RED looks like G84 |
Re: X22 COPO
are the front fenders original? maybe the date codes are still there also see if there is any emblem holes by the marker lights.
