Interesting 1969 Camaro
1 Attachment(s)
Saw this the other day in Rockville, MD. Was Hugger Orange SS/RS, L78, black houndstooth, and the stripe that goes up to the hood (the one not available on SSs).
Owner had the original window sticker, which showed a LeMans Blue L34 (rarer than an L78) with 4.10. Thought 4.10 gears was unusual for a non-solid lifter car, but you guys are the experts - thoughts? |
Re: Interesting 1969 Camaro
L34 would have come standard with 3.31. Performance axle was 3.55.
4.10 was available special order, as were 2.73 and 3.73 according to the GM heritage center option listings. What is with the rounded pinking shear edges? Page 179: GM Heritage option lists. |
Re: Interesting 1969 Camaro
What were the codes on the cowl tag
|
Re: Interesting 1969 Camaro
I've seen both SS350's and L34's with 4.10.
Not many options on this car (originally)! |

Re: Interesting 1969 Camaro
did you look under the hood? Does it have a curved neck radiator?
|
Re: Interesting 1969 Camaro
4:10 in a 350 small block had to be a drag/street racer. The highway rpm's and gas mileage would really suck.

It's not any more expensive to manufacture that ratio. The extra cost is more because of a change from what is standard than a production cost. Try and order an optional ratio today, and it's a big upcharge. Is that because it cost extra, or it screws with the corporate fuel mileage? |

I'm not a Chevy guy, so my attention is attracted by other Bow Tie elements. |
