Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Such a distinct car. Can't imagine why anyone would even attempt this.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Hope it gets found, fast. Back in the 90's there was a very distinctive Mustang stolen from a hotel parking lot, trailer and all. It's never turned up, and the rumor has always been that once the thieves figured out they'd stolen an albatross, they dumped it in a swamp down in Florida somewhere. Sincerely hoping the same doesn't happen here.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Hope they'll find it and bring the thieve(s) to justice.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Probably in a shipping container headed over seas already unfortunately...
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Where was the location of the theft?
Westchester, NY at the residence or in a different location? |

<span style="font-style: italic">"Police are searching for a one-of-a-kind Plymouth “Mod Top” Barracuda valued at over $1 million that was stolen from a Manhattan nightclub owner’s home in Westchester, police said.Steven Juliano’s green 1970 ‘Cuda, worth $1.4 million, was stolen from his Pelham Manor garage shortly after midnight.Juliano had just loaded three other vintage vehicles into a trailer bound for Los Angeles,Calif.,and was about to return home to prepare the Plymouth for transport when he got a call from his home security company alerting him of a break in,according to a source familiar with the investigation.
By the time police arrived, the hotrod had become a hot ride, the source said."</span> |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
That thing will stand out like a sore thumb
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Is it really worth ~4x as much as a similar car, or similar in value to a convertible, because of the vinyl top?
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
I am sure he likely has his collection highly insured so possibly.
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
When was the last time you saw a mod top hemi cuda?
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
I certainly hope not but it's probably lost to the world forever now.

Yes, there's only one. And it had matching floor mats, don't ya know. I feel for Mr. Juliano, this just sucks. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...modtophemi.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dsc_0057.jpg |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Steve had stage 3 pancreatic cancer back in 2012-2013 and only had months to live and then his two bars in NY were shut down...guy has been through a lot.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Considering that the 5 yr. survival rate for stage 3 pancreatic cancer is 3% he is a very lucky man to be alive.

https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/2012120...ghtclub-chelsea </div></div> Hasn't had a good run unfortunately. His nightclub issues reminds me of every drag strip that has been closed down because of residential development over the years. Sucks. Hopefully he gets that awesome Hemi Cuda back! |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Did Steve Juliano have money problems....just sayin
|

Good dude - that's a bummer. Hope they track it down ...

That's a really cheap shot and has no place in this forum. |

If he did (and it's none of my business whether he does or doesn't), he could have sold the car within an hour of making the decision to do so. We're not talking about distressed property in a flood zone. I'm as cynical as the next guy, but that seems... uncalled for. |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
I agree with what you guys say. It was said without thinking about it. This world has made me cynical. He could have sold it instantly. Sorry about the bad taste.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Steve bought those floor mats off me! They were in my 70 six pack GTX from Staten Island. I see they went to the right car. Hope he gets the car back soon. He was a great guy to talk to.
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
I hope the word gets out before the car is shipped, destroyed or dismantled. Bad karma for someone to steal it from a cancer survivor.

The word has been out in almost every news outlet. Not too many plebeians have been able to surf the Net without seeing a story on it. |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Steve still has plenty of money and cars. If anyone knows him they know he uses only nos or orig. parts in his testosterone. I think the top was the only part he had to reproduce. He is the only guy still alive in his cancer treatment group. I think the last straw on the nightclub was a off duty police officer stated under oath he saw a drug deal going down inside by looking in the front window. Steve wondered how he saw thru the window when they were fake Windows. They still voted to shut him down.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Its been mentioned before -- but whoever ripped this Cuda' off is in a pickle ... now what the hell are they going to do with it? Send it across the pond? Part it out? etc. etc. Just like a dog chasing a car -- if the pooch catches it ... what will he do with it?? TAZ

Mark you're so correct. My father in law when diagnosed with it passed away 7 weeks later. |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
He told me at the time we spoke that he was traveling to another country for experimental treatments that was costing him an incredible amount of money. Looks like it was worth taking the chance.
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
its a darn shame but Id bet anything its already across the sea in another country
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Guys, stop with the overseas claims. The customs processes make smuggling a car across borders very difficult especially (as claimed here) the mode of transport is sea or air freight. Come on...
|
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Steve is a hero amongst the Mopar crowd. His collection and preservation of Mopar memorabilia has helped validate many discussions over the years. Like everyone else has noted, what they hell do crooks do with a car of this nature? They're up a creek with no paddle. Their best bet is to dump it like what happened with Papa John's Camaro.

Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
That car is gone. Like Chicago, if something needs to disappear, it will. I used to detail cars as a kid (to help pay for my college education) for one of the largest scrap metal companies in Chicago. I became very close to the owners, and did all their cars and some of their special trophy trucks, I would deliver the cars to different locations when done (different yards), as they paid me very well. What you see go into the crusher at times, will only say, this car will be gone in a big city. Just picture in your head, some of the scenes in the movie, gone in 60 seconds. I will bet a bunch of white castle burgers, it will never be seen again.
How a car, in a high profile collectors hands, is not in view of a security camera, is a head scratcher for me. |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
Unfortunately a removed vinyl top and paint job would make this one disappear relatively easily. Nobody would recognize it.
I'm still going to have to disagree with you Daniel (MosportGreen66). Stolen cars leave the US all the time in conex boxes. Yes, it's more difficult now, but it's still going on without a doubt. Only a small percentage of shipping containers ever get checked. |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
@ only 50K now,I kinda think it's a reward money amount that the thieves are really looking @,from the day they took it.
Bury the car and wait.. |
Re: Juliano Mod Top Hemi Cuda Stolen
This car could have been an order and already sold for oversea buyer. We do not have the manpower to search every container leaving or coming in ports. 60 mins had a story of stolen luxury cars going to africa, they run them through the busiest ports to increase the chance of not getting caught. The port authority and homeland security can put a flag on that vin# make, model and try to watch all paperwork. But they will never be able to search every container.

Wow . . . kinda just emailed a friend with a similar response. The overseas explanation is a cliche. Were people saying the same thing about COPO Pete's Camaro? Let the cops do their job and let Steve deal with his loss in peace. |

Maybe the Donald can see to it that nothing goes out of OR comes into the US without the proper paperwork.. |
