69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
69 Am/fm blue light stereo with amp. Needs to be restored and serviced. 91BFM2 stereo. Letter B indicates Chevelle but Chevelle audio equipment was often used on other cars from the factory. I've heard B means default as well but I don't know the codes like that. Radio was tested and works. Asking $850. Open to offers. PM for more pictures or questions.
Thanks, Brandon. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2352-image.png https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2353-image.png https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2354-image.png https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2355-image.png https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2356-image.png |

Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
That is an Impala unit, not a Chevelle unit. A is Chevelle, B is Impala. The multiplexer is positively Impala only. Won't work in a Chevelle or Camaro. The bracket is welded to the case and won't work in the other models. The radios were all coded for Passenger(B), the multiplexers were unique per model.

The radio is coded B for passenger. The multiplex has no tag as it came off.

Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
The code 91BFM2 was used in Camaros and Chevelles as well. This came out of a Chevelle so I know it fits.

Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
Umm, the bracket is screwed to the case, not welded. The amp is the same as Camaro and Chevelle. The bracket is for Impala but can be changed.

Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
So The radio can be used for basically any of the cars that came with it they just may or may not take a different bracket. Which is what I originally thought? Or am I wrong?

Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
Brandon,
That is correct. The radio and amp will fit Camaro, Chevelle, and Impala. The correct bracket just needs to be screws to the amp. Jason |
Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
As I recall that amp with the bolt on 90 degree bracket is Impala. It was mounted on the main pedal bracket thus close to the radio.
The Camaro amp was installed above the glove box between the cowl and dash area. The Camaro bracket was originally welded on. At one time there was a repo bracket available to convert the Impala for a Camaro. However, the cable/wire on the Impala amp is not nearly long enough to reach over to the glove box location. Perhaps a board stretcher from a local carpenter will help. |
Re: 69 Chevelle, Camaro, Multiplex Blue light stereo
they were all coded to the body
B=Impala. etc A=Chevelle F=Camaro regardless of WHAT it originally came in you can make them FIT in other applications lots of great info here: http://www.wonderbarman.com/codes.html Specifically: Let's say the "Service Model Number" is: 02GFM1 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix AM/FM~Stereo The first digit is the model year of the radio 0=1970. So 8=1968, 9=1969, 0=1970, 1=1971, 2=1972 3=1973, 4=1974, 5=1975 after that i have no literature for info. BUT i do believe that they rest for the next decade so a 1 could be a 71 or 81 model year The second digit is the car line: 1 = Chevrolet 2 = Pontiac 3 = Oldsmobile 4 = Buick 5 = Cadillac 6 = GMC The third element is a letter which corresponds to the fisher body style the radio goes in: A - Midsized: Tempest, Chevelle, Camaro, ChevyII, Acadian, Skylark/GS, [GTO not listed by Delco but is a Tempest or LeMans, GT37, T-37 Pontiac model radio] B - Fullsized model: Bonneville etc. C - More than full sized: Cadillac Fleetwood. D - Rear control: Cadillac 75 E - Toronado, Riviera F - Pony car: Firebird etc. G - Grand Prix etc. H - Subcompact: Sunbird etc. L - Opel T - Truck TTC - GMC truck tilt cab V - Corvette, sometimes the V looks like a Y ? X - Compact: Nova etc. Z - Corvair etc. The next two letters indicate the type of radio: PB - Push Button AM FP - AM/FM mono FM - AM/FM~Stereo K - Fader Control MP - FM Multiplex adapter (second part of a two-piece radio) T - Stereo Tape Player (8-track) RV - Reverberation Amplifier FW - AM/FM/Weather band MW - AM/FM~Stereo/Weather band |
