What's hot, and what's not...????

For what it's worth, I noticed the brother's collection added some small block ebodies converts to their collection this year, namely 340 cars (atleast 2 under a 12 month period). Maybe they (muscle car of the week, Brother's collection) are a good indicator of what cars on the outside fringe of the obvious ones being collected like COPOs and hemis, W30s, etc, to watch out for.

I also, periodically check on cars-on-line, to see what is getting sold. I think that is also a pretty good gauge of the collector car market with a quick scan. I recently checked on my 67 gtx market, and noticed a lot of them getting sold there. A yr ago, it was not the case, plenty of them just sitting there. Just a thing to keep track of.

It's always the old adage: Follow the money.

Can't believe how many cars dealers are selling on Cars on Line & ebay lately.....Jeez.
Not as many private sales anymore.

Black69. I can't think of what smallblock E bodies were added. You know they were recently added or were they just featured on Musclecar of the Week ?

I wouldn't consider a '71 340 'Cuda convertible a fringe collector car. It's smack dab in the middle of the meat. Some of those with the right equipment (billboards, shaker, 4-speed, matching #s, docs) change hands for north of 200K.

Hi Charlie, I am just working off muscle car of the week vids, jan 2015 on the one I knew of (a rare 3 spd) and then another one in dec 2015 (loaded automatic).

Might just be ones they have had awhile. I don't recall getting any lately.

I see Stephano sold a 71 hemi cuda listed on there, and a heavy heavy weight (tom lambeck) has a 340 4spd cuda convert over there (actually pretty high price). Looks like a fair mix of dealers and private owners.

Remember when you couldn't wait to get that new issue of Hemmings? I looked through a couple of issues in the past year and almost nothing but dealers in the cars for sale sections. I know things have changed but dang. Ebay isn't much better with a dealer listing the same car 5 times, all being active listings.

financing, and also novice collectors feel more comfortable buying from known dealers I guess. piece of mind dealing with a business?

A dealer bought my Nova off of SYC last October.I never even talked to him...he sent me an email with a few questions and next day wired the money into my account.I sent him the ownership and 10 days later the car was off to Kansas City.So it works both ways.

Re: What's hot, and what's not...????

I would imagine many dealers are looking for Canadian cars based on the ~25% currency difference.

Re: What's hot, and what's not...????

It worked in my favor...Got paid in U.S.currency and then bought a car here. Was 30% when I sold the Nova.

Pretty sure Toms car in the link above is heading to FL. E body converts are hot especially 71's. Heck ebodies in general are doing great

a good friend of mine has been buying every 340 cuda convert he finds and has been for 4 or 5 years..and they are harder to get than you think..he swears they are the next big thing....and is a good speculator, always just a little ahead of the pack..hes no where in the same league as Brothers, but he does well and stays below the radar well

he recently got a 4 car deal...all 70 340 4 speed cuda converts, i think he said a couple where black and one was black and had a black hockey stick factory..no shakers though...out of a basement garage where they sat for decades awaiting restos..and the owner passed before he got to them..he was just an ordinary..Joe Plumber type guy, no one even knew they where there or existed..unless you where family or a close close friend...

theres still a bunch of cool cars still in the hands of enthusiasts... and they trade and no one ever knows

Re: What's hot, and what's not...????

that is a cool story! What a find! They are still out there, people just hang on to cars they plan to get to some day. The one I got was in an old barn in omaha nebraska. It was there until the owner died and the property went up for sale. It went with the property sale, a ford guy bought the property, and could not wait to get that mopar off of it.
