1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142.
I want to say thanks to John Hoer for finding and helping me to acquire this W-30. I swore off all project cars.......but couldn't resist this one. Only 3,100 total W-30s produced in 1970 with only 142 4 speed Sport Coupes / Post Sedans. The Black / Black with gold stripes is extra Kool, for me. This W-30 is a low option car. The 3.91 gear, the console, the radio, SS IIs and that's about it for options. We have history back to the original dealership / owner as well as every subsequent owner. I am the 4th owner. Car traveled 75,000 miles and lead a hard life. The car doesn't look like this today unfortunately, but here it is with the original owner soon after it rolled off the show room floor. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-scan00911.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-scan00921.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-scan00931.jpg |

Re: 1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
The 69' W-30 442 I bought while in Vietnam was also black with gold stripes and had a white interior. Later I added a gold "Hurst" stripe from the top of the front fender to the C pillar. Sure wish I knew what happened to that one -- traded it in on a 70 Z-28 in Clovis, NM ... TAZ

Re: 1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
Taz, you had all the Kool cars : )
|
Re: 1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
If I were to show you a list of the cars my wife and I have had you would flip. But its more fun to remember all the good times with each starting with my dads 56' Buick Roadmaster ... TAZ

Re: 1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
If ever I were to own an Olds, this one would be at the top of the list.
Hope to see it as progress is made on the resto. |

Re: 1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
The wife would be cruzin' with her girl friends and many of the dudes with the hot rods, etc. would ask her what the W-30 stood for on the fenders ... she'd tell em' that was a reminder to put 30 weight oil in the motor ... LOL

Re: 1970 W-30 Post 4 speed one of 142
Whoa! Now that's an Olds! - Aren't there pics of an ongoing restoration (probably finished now) of the Holiday Coupe Black/Gold version of that car on a thread here somewhere?
