It had painted on the side "Brooklyn Heavy", it was set up for drag racing (gutted interior)but was pretty stock, no engine or tranny. I continually asked if it was for sale, owner of the station said the owner was in jail.!! It sat there for about 2 years before the owner sold the station and cleaned house, but I remember that car vividely, wonder if it was a COPO _________________________ 70 L78 Nova Fathom Blue,Bench, 4spd, F41, 3:55 71 Porsche 911 Targa Top Reply Quote Quick Reply Quick Quote Notify Email Pos |

Does "Leyte Brothers" sound right, JRSully? Top Reply Quote Quick Reply Quick Quote Notify Email Post |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Leyte Bros. never heard that name before.
|
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
maybe you meant Ronnie Lyles?
|
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Could not recall the name of the station guys that told me Heavy was in the can and the car was not for sale. But DO remember that very vividly, saw it almost everyday going to HS. It was there for a while, never moved. Then one day it was gone. I remember the cut rear wheel wells on it

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
If you look at the first pictures, hockey stick is not as it should be as the standard Stripe.
Was this Camaro re painted by BM? JR Sully do you know the address to the Gas Station? |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
The station is gone, it is now a KFC I believe (what else is new). It was located on the N West corner of Wantagh Ave and Jerusalem Ave in Wantagh NY 11793, I remember Dan Palchanes was chasing this info down a while back FWIW

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Thanks JR Sully
I have not been in contact with Dan for several years. He has been invisible since the problems he had. And he was blacklisted everywhere. |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Here is a photo with dark Primer on all the places that it was written on the Heavy's Camaro.

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
SO is it going to be blue or did it end up being painted blue over the years? Is it an orange car originally?
|
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
The last photos, it has 53 (Glacier Blue) om the Trim Tag.
Wheel Wells have been fixed earlier when it became painted Glacier Blue again. These Pictures are dated 96. And it was painted Le Mans Blue after that |

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin

|
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
The fact that one car is Hugger Orange and the other one factory Blue rules out them being the same car, but yes, a confusing thread based on the primer comments.

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
I'm sorry that I was unclear and confusing.
It was That I am going through some photos and found a picture where it was dark primer in the same places as it was written on the Heavy's Camaro |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Still not sure what you mean Carleen. Don't think Heavy had anything painted on these quarters when he was racing it because the wheel wells were cut on his Pumpkin car. The BM car was Hugger Orange and not blue was it?

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Okay, I have to take this from the beginning.
Was looking online and looking at Pictures and found photos where the Heavy's Camaro was White. Remember that someone had seen it when it stood chained to a pole outside a Workshop. Found JR Sully post where he said it was Brooklyn Heavy on the door and the car was orange. The Orange one dident have Brooklyn Heavy on the door as the White one have. The Orange one had RB Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin on the door. And then I was wondering if the White car and orange was the same. I rememberd that some one said that the car was probably not Hugger Orange from the beginning Becuse the Hockey stripe was not corect. think it was on Team Camaro site. Then I found on another site which said that Heavy painted Camaro, but have not talked to him yet. It was probably when it become White. So the Camaro was probley White When JR Sully saw it. So I sat and went through a lot of pictures and found pictures on the Blue Camaro With Grey Primer. It was not supposed to say it was the Heavy's Camaro but had dark primer on the locations it was written on Heavy's Camaro. |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
From Nitro Mater someone named Marc White
Used to hang at a body shop that painted some of Heavy's cars...Interesting group. Still remember the Brooklyn Heavy vs. Levi Holmes races at E. Town. I think a few dollars changed hands. When they dropped off the 69 Camaro at the paint shop. We asked them to help us push it in off the street...They just told us start it up and drive it in. Early Pro Stock/BIG money street race car..lenco the whole bit. We asked arent you worried leaving a running car here? Answer...No ones gonna mess with our stuff. Nuff said |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
This was probably 70-71. Cant find any Records that they Raced the 69 Camaro after 71 season.

All the Names above the Gills and Rotondeas Speed shop and Pat´s Speed Center when it was White. |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
sounds like the orange Motion Camaro was used as some type of demo car.
It was a high option car, was used as a show car, then driven to the track at least two times, and also had the engine set up changed |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
If you look at the Pictures when it was new, Hockey Stick is not Correct and no wheel opening moldings.
Joe C, you know who did the Paint job for Joel Rosen. |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Gary “The Local Brush” Kupfer did some of the paint work for Motion but I think they used other local shops as needed
Gary's site http://www.localbrush.com/profile.html The orange 69 may be a different car then the white one. Heavy went to the 70 Camaro as many did in 1970 but back to a 69 as many did in mid 1970s as the rules changed The 1969 red white and blue Motion sponsored Ferrara/Zule car was run in mid 70s The white Heavy 69 looks like from same mid 70s period so he may have bought a different 69 with updated chassis unless he saved the orange one http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...RACE-CAR-44044 side notes, The orange car has those Mustang GT mirrors Joel liked to use on the Corvettes and other MP cars The Heavy orange car has 396 emblems, that was something street racers did |
Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
Gary “The Local Brush” dident work on the Orange Camaro.

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
It is my understanding that Joey Buttafuco's brother (at his father Cap's auto body in Baldwin) painted some Motion cars I hah heard. If you haven't found him already, (I think he is banned from the site here.?) find Dan Palchanes, he spent years detailing and chasing Motion stuff

Re: Brooklyn Wild Pumpkin
I sent an email to Dan for a couple of days ago, but no sign of life from him.
I try to find the Brothers, Eddy (Google Eyes) and Freddy Leyte that had Heavy's 69 Camaro in front of their shop in Wantagh. |
