Rayburn Pennington
I hope this is the appropriate forum for this post. If a moderator needs to move it I understand. But I wanted to post this where everyone would see it.
It is with a sad heart I have to inform you that Rayburn Pennington passed away last night from complications following a minor surgery last week. Rayburn and his Motion Manta Ray were one of the early supporters of the Supercar Reunion and MCACN. He had never missed either show since the beginning until just the last few years when his health began to decline. Anyone who met Rayburn will remember him as a very friendly and a fine gentleman. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-img_06701.jpg He was a very dear friend of mine and will be missed greatly. Re: Rayburn Pennington
That is sad news indeed. Ray was a great car enthusiast, and a very fine gentleman. They don't make them like Ray anymore, and that is sad.

Re: Rayburn Pennington
Condolences to his family... He was a really nice guy and one of the first guys to introduce himself to me at SCR1 back in 1998.

Re: Rayburn Pennington
Very sorry to read this.First met him @ SCR 5 then 6-7-8-9 & 10.
Really a nice guy with who had some good stories & a phenomenal Corvette. |
Re: Rayburn Pennington
Met Rayburn at SCR1, a true car guy. He rode back with me from the drag strip at Nashville in the Yellow Sub, was grinning from ear to ear as Cliff Ernst, in another Yenko Camaro, ran along side us.
A real assist to our hobby, a close friend of the Clary family. He will be missed by all who knew him. |
Re: Rayburn Pennington
Hi Jamie, so sorry to hear about this. You and I talked about his struggles at MCACN and that you thought he was on the upswing and getting a bit better. Like the others, I met him at the Supercar reunions...I think the first was SCR8.
Take it easy Jamie...we'll see you soon...and rest in peace, Rayburn! |
Re: Rayburn Pennington
Rest in peace Rayburn. The absolute gentleman in the car hobby. He will be missed.

Re: Rayburn Pennington
Went to the Rayburn's visitation last night, he obviously touched a lot of people, not only in our hobby, but Poplar Bluff and the surrounding area, as there was a huge crowd on hand paying their respects.

Very sad. Rayburn was indeed a very down to earth and humble man and treated everyone the same, that of a friend. Rest in Peace Rayburn.

Re: Rayburn Pennington
Super guy. Huge Heart and loved talking about the Corvette, Motion history and Rosen. Specifically about how the rear of the Vette was restyled with Motion Glass for Joel's favorite pooch to cruise around with him. We first met in the field at SCR 1.
We will miss you Mr. Pennington |

Indeed, very sad news. Rayburn will always be remembered as a true gentleman and a great ambassador of our hobby.
I feel honored to have had him as a friend and also for being able to host him at MCACN several times. Like several said, his warmth and smile will be missed. Bashton |
