Afghanistan suicide attack
Hello all. I haven't posted in years been content to watch. My son in law was one of the two service men who survived the suicide attack in Afghanistan today. He has serious injuries but is expected to make it but will be a long hard road. His name is Jon Jackson and I'm asking members here to keep him in your prayers. It's guys like him that make it so we can enjoy this hobby and other freedoms others don't have. Thanks Bob

Re: Afghanistan suicide attack
I'll certainly include your son in my prayers. We're truly blessed to be able to enjoy our freedoms that a good portion of the world would love to also enjoy.
I also feel blessed to be able to participate in a website where so many of us can so freely share our Christian beliefs and pass on Christ's blessings. Thanks to your son and so many others, hopefully that will always be the case. Thank you! |
Re: Afghanistan suicide attack
Got it - Jon Jackson on my prayer list. In this time when our society often makes professional athletes our "heros" - we too often overlook the true heros - guys like you son. Guys who are willing to step forward when their name is called.

Re: Afghanistan suicide attack
If he gets sent to Landstuhl before going back home and needs anything, PM me. Let me know. I'm 10 minutes from Landstuhl Medical Center. He will be well taken care of, but sometimes the support staff can't go out of their way for small things.

Re: Afghanistan suicide attack
Sorry to hear that he was so close to this, but very glad to hear he made it through. I have a lot of friends who are either still active duty or freshly retired and sometimes we here on home soil take for granted the freedoms that these guys fight for. I salute them and hope for a speedy recovery.

Re: Afghanistan suicide attack
Good evening all. Wanted to keep everyone in the loop as far as whats been going on. Jon was taken to Germany yesterday but due to his and the other soldier's injuries being so severe they are getting them stateside as soon as they can. He is due to land at Andrews Air Base tommorow afternoon and will go directly to Walter Reed Hospital. He has numerous entry and exit wounds from the shrapnel but the main problems are he has a ball bearing lodged against his spinal cord and another against a vital artery. Jon has told his wife over and over he doesn't know how he is still alive. It's going to be tough going but we all know he has the stuff to make it. On the bright side we have three grandkids who still have a dad at Christmas time. Thank all of you for your support. In a screwed up world it's nice to know there are still alot of good people out there. Thanks again from all of us. Bob
