Re: George Barris
Bummer and so sorry to hear the news but 89 and what a life he lived! Such a true icon also someone who's talents and creations touched most of us here that grew up during the George Barris 'King of Customizers' era. The King is dead...long live the King! ~ Pete ========================= Info link... http://comicbook.com/2015/11/05/geor...gner-has-died/ - George Barris, the man who designed the 1966 Batman TV series’ Batmobile, has died at the age of 89. "Sorry to have to post that my father, legendary kustom car king George Barris, has moved to the bigger garage in the sky," Barris' son, Brett, wrote on Facebook. "He passed on peacefully in his sleep at 2:45 am. He was surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home. He lived his life they way he wanted til the end. He would want everyone celebrate the passion he had for life and for what he created for all to enjoy. Thank you all for the posts and calls, your love is deeply appreciated. Peace" Together with his brother Sam, Barris designed custom vehicles for several Hollywood projects, incuding Norht By Norhtwest, The Munsters, and The Beverly Hillbillies, though none more iconic than his Batmobile, earning him the title “King of Kustomizers.” - |

Re: George Barris
Brought a lot of great customs to us and also gave a lot of other customizers their start. Never met the man but appreciate the vision he had, esp when building this. I worked on this replica ( Friggin Nightmare) years ago, still proud of it!

Re: George Barris
I had the pleasure of working with George over the years and sharing many a meal. In fact, Vicki and I just had dinner with George and Linda Vaughn last month when we shared a table with them at the Mid America Funfest.
RIP, Mr. Barris! Bashton |
