Yenko Deuce

Forest Green 4 speed Deuce. Sold new at W.R. Austin in Norwalk CT. VIN 114270W349789 YS # 037
Non original but correct motor and transmission. Correct 010 block with 186 heads both block and heads have good date codes.
All components appear to be correct except it does not have the 837 alternator.
661 case M 21 with 621 bell housing and correct shifter.
The most important part of the driveline is still in place. The original CBW rear end with F-41 sway bar remains.
Correct interior with an original rubber mat.
Atlas wheel with new Wide Ovals, Slapper bars and White coated Hooker headers for a Day 2 look.
The car is very sorted out and runs and drives well.
It ran high 12s at the Super Car Reunion in August and was a blast!
This is an older restoration that still shows well. It is probably best described as a very nice driver.
Priced at $105,000. Since I bought the Yenko Camaro that has been discussed recently I am motivated to sell. I need to open up some space in my shop and free up some funds for the restoration of the Camaro so I would work with someone who could move pretty quickly on this.
If interested call 870-680-0299
Thanks, Jamie

Jamie -- do you know who supplied the stripe/decal package?

No I do not. The quality is good though.

I saw this car at the Reunion. I would call it much better than just a driver. This is a very nice car its a strong #2 with a #1 being a full blown show car. This is just my opinion but I'm a very picky guy.

In the 70's & early 80's there was a Deuce indentical to this running around Rantoul, Il. The owner (I knew his name) scattered the LT-1 and rebuilt it with a 400 crank. He passed away later and after that I lost track of his Deuce. TAZ

A member here, lives in Western Suburbs bought a Deuce matching that description in his youth and still has it today. He even drove it to the Car Craft Nationals this past summer.

Stefano, if you are referring to Dan, his Deuce is a T400.....otherwise, looks identical.

The Rantoul Deuce had a 4 gear -- could have been changed ... TAZ

There is a high probability that I sat in this car when I was about 10 years old. My dad took me car shopping with him and we ended up at W.R. Austin (about 2 miles from our house). I sat in a dark colored Deuce while my dad was looking around, pretending I was drag racing it. I remember clearly the lack of carpeting. The sales guy finally yelled at me to get out and my dad ended up with a Duster.

I'm fairly sure W.R. Austin also sold a Dusk Blue Deuce. That's why I cannot be 100%.

Re: Yenko Deuce

Would actually be Fathom Blue. The colors are pretty close. Very neat story I appreciate you sharing it with us.

Re: Yenko Deuce

Six years later, when I was 16, I bought a '69 Z/28 sold new from W.R. Austin. The engine had a knock but before I got into rebuilding it I went to look at a replacement engine for sale. It was a 350, but back then originality meant nothing, I needed my car to run. Pull into the driveway of the seller and guess what's sitting there, the/a Fathom Blue Yenko Deuce. Was hit hard in the rear and was being parted. Ended up passing on the 350 rebuilding the 302 from my Z.

Thanks, I am still trying to find some more history on the Camaro and it will take some time to locate all the correct parts. But I will keep you all posted on the progress.

I think that car has been for sale for a while. It is a good car.
On the subject of my Camaro...
I realized I was not going to be able to start on the restoration for a while and I just could not look at the purple paint any longer! So I found a set of vintage Cragars and did a quick patina paint job on it in the original Lemans Blue. Since this is a vinyl top car I had a very good friend help me do a lace job on the roof. That was fun. I distressed the stripes and emblems. Loaded it up and it ran 12.50s at the Supercar Reunion. I have really enjoyed the car just like it is. Still pretty rough but this is probably the most fun I will ever have with it.

I tried to upload a few pics but the files are too big. If anyone wants to see them and is willing to help I would appreciate it.
Jamie

That is awesome! Glad you are enjoying the Camaro, would be cool to see pics!

Did this used to be Mark McDonald's car from Rantoul, Il?? TAZ

livettes 12-22-2017 07:38 PM

Not that I am aware of. I have not heard that name associated with this Deuce.
Jamie

earntaz 12-22-2017 08:29 PM

The last three of Marks VIN was 789 ... TAZ

Ooops -- brain fart ... should have looked further below ... this is Mark McDonald'd deuce.

livettes 12-22-2017 10:29 PM

Sure is. I just looked back at the first few pages of the thread and see where you brought that up back then. Pretty cool!

Back in the day Mark and I were good friends. In fact, his was one of three Deuces in Rantoul, Il at that time. There was a girl that bought a red with white stripes at Rogers Chevrolet. Mark had the green one and I had a Cortez Silver Deuce. Mark scattered the original LT-1 and installed a 377 motor. Not sure if he broke the tranny but I think the original 12 bolt may be in it. The car has been thru an extensive restoration and looks very correct -- but it cannot have the original engine. TAZ

mprice 12-23-2017 01:15 PM

I bought the green car from Mark in the early 90s and it did have the original rear end in the car but yes the motor and trans was long gone. I started the restoration but sold it mid way thru the restoration.

Are you sure the red deuce had white stripes? We've never found one that we were sure that it came with white stripes. Any idea where it is now?

Do you care to elaborate on this, for educational purposes?

Are u saying they usually came with no stripes?

This is interesting.

Justbad Joe 12-23-2017 02:39 PM

Red deuces normally always came with black stripes.

Here are a few pics of Jamie's Yenko Camaro. I bet it gets a LOT of attention this way!
