Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
Starting a restoration on a 69 X33 car that was purchased directly from GM by Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma City, OK. The delivery dealer was Naquin Chevrolet in Indiana. I know this car has an interesting history and story behind it, but haven't nailed it done yet. Was given some theories behind the car being an executive car, test car, or a car used for advertising. Any ideas, leads, information would be greatly appreciated!

The colors work for Phillips Petroleum. Orange, white, and black.

Re: Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
Yes. Tom Naquin Chevrolet. I spoke with the GM and there are no remaining records from back then.

----Terry Carney (RIP) was good friends with one of the Naquins. He has a summer home up here on Harsens Island, Mi. I usually run in to him once or twice a summer......Bill S

Re: Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
If you could talk to one of the Naquin's that would be great! Thanks!!

Re: Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
Tom Naquin's is still in business here in Elkhart. I bought a new car from them about a year ago. Thad Naquin is running the business now. Why don't you call him and tell him you have a car from there. Maybe he can put you in touch with some old timers who used to work there and may remember the car. My dad bought a 70 Nova new from there as well.

Re: Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
As our research continues on this car it appears that this Z/28 was bought by Phillips Petroleum Marking Department. According to the NCRS paperwork the purchasing dealer was Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma City, OK. Phillips Petroleum's corporate headquarters was and still is in Bartlesville, OK, but their marketing department was and remains in Oklahoma City, OK. So, as our research continues it is safe to say lineage of this Z/28 begins at Phillips Petroleum's Marketing Department.

Re: Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
Does anyone have any idea what the "3X" would be? Why would it be written in green paint over the other codes? The car is a X33, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Re: Phillips Petroleum 69 Z/28
I think my eyes are still crossed from looking at that firewall for so long. Still trying to figure out the big Green 3X??? Great car, unbelievable body on the car. Cant wait to see it wearing its Hugger Orange paint.
