69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
Does anyone have some pictures of the placement of both stickers on the under side of the trunk lid for my L78 Nova SS. There should be 2 stickers, one for the jacking instructions, and the other for the posi.
Well I'm at it, the proper placement of the under the hood stick that goes on the shroud, left side or right side?? The Blue GM tag that goes on the inside of the drivers door placement to?? Pictures would be great so I can pass them on to the body guys. I'm sure there is a post some where in this website, or if someone can help out with pictures, that would be great. Thanks in advance. |

Re: 69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
Everything you need is in the assembly manual.

Assembly Manual. If you are doing a car, you should have one.

I will finger through it.
Thanks |
Re: 69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
Just remember that although the assembly manual will show you the "normal" location for the trunk stickers, the workers pretty much just slapped them in place. Most were not level, and just stuck in the general area.

Re: 69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
The assembly manual will show you how they are supposed to be placed however, I have observed many unrestored Novas 69 and 70 and the decals were NOT placed like shown in the manual. I think it just depended on who was working the line that particular day...
This is my 70 L78. The original stickers were found in this placement pattern. The spare tire being upper right and lower left being the posi decal. I have also seen this placement on unmolested, unrestored 69s... One of which being in the 1969 Hot Rod Magazine article "13 second grocery getter". There is a picture of the trunk open on that car that shows this placement also. I don't have the article handy.. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...icture2334.jpg This picture is of Tom Williams' 70 L78 black Nova unrestored. Notice the opposite side placement. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...icture3460.jpg Hope this helps.... Rich |

Re: 69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
BUT, if you are restoring a car and is painted underneath the deck lid ya kinda got to go by the Manual because the judges, admirers, car show people etc. will think YOU did it wrong and not the assembly line. People love the history but hate the stories that you would have to tell. Survivor cars........ different story cause there is no story.

Re: 69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
My decals on my 70 are also placed the same as Toms car.

Re: 69 Nova SS Sticker Placement
Not sure the '69's got the blue label on the drivers door, and the deck lid labels have been found in a variety of location combinations.

Based on all the cars I have seen the blue door label did not appear until the 70 model year [only exception I can think of would be some late build 69 Camaros??]. As for the tune up sticker...after looking at photos of 69 cars, I would say it goes on the driver's side...for some reason I have never seen the cooling system sticker on a 69 BB Nova....I don't think they put one on that year. Trunk sticker locations, as discussed, can vary...there are several folks on here with survivor 69 SS Novas...perhaps they can offer some input. Here is a link to Stan's car from our website...the underhood and trunk labels are there. http://chevynova.org/Nova-Photo/gallery3...sk-Blue/page/3/ Hope that helps....wilma |
