Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Let's say you found a '69 Z, D80, console/gauges, brown/white stripes / hounds tooth that had never been sold by the original dealer, 38 miles on odometer, window sticker still affixed and only outside twice in its life. Once for a test drive and once for a move when dealership closed. What do you guys think that'd be worth? Seems to me it'd be a landmark car right? I don't recall seeing another around like it?

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Burnished Brown?
Brand New? Oh My Goodness!!! Ryan |
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Wowwwww... that's better than Charlie's 70 Z. Id say the sky is the limit... to throw a number out there... 125 to 150K ?? maybe even more..

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Workin on that John............
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
that is like the car from Nebraska auction that was at MCACN- 63 impala - sky is the limit to a collector of orig, low to no mileage cars....id have to go to a 250 range for a car like that.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Obviously condition based on how it's stored is critical, but in "like new" condition 200Kish range.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
I agree, we all see restored one's going for $125k price range, for a brand new on with no miles it could bring $250k, or more.

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
When safely in your hands post a picture for us.

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Oh my!
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Hypothetically, that would certainly be a tremendous discovery.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Can I have it ? If like new condition with no fluffing I would probably go 250k+
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
You selling it $200K, BJ selling it $450K

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Not yet Dan.......you know, the whole "ducks in a row" thing.......
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Considering the 63 at Lamberts auction sold for around 100k which around 3-4 times the value of a restored car in the same caliber and quality, I would say 3-4 times the price of a restored Z. Then add for the cleanup, prep and work it will need like brakes, fuel system, etc. I would say Charley is spot on.

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Just goes to show.....these "Holy Grail" cars are still out there

</div></div> 3 to 4 times what a restored Z would bring seems about right. Would have to see pics and if it is in condition as described, I would say Charley's offer is fair. My dad first started trying to buy that Lambrecht 63 in the early 70s but could never get it bought for the right price. |

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Just returned to VA. NFS at any price is what I got. Sincerest apologies for getting everyone's hopes up, as I did my own, but it appears it will stay where it is for now. But, it IS there.....

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
You got to see it in person?
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
I did. I saw it 15 or so years ago before the current owners dad passed. In exactly the same state.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
and in current state - is it mint or been subject to any neglect??
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
It looks new Eddie. Nice dry climate controlled building. Also has a '67 RS and a '68 SB, plus a bunch of other "less collectible" cars.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
Can we get him to share it at MCACN ? A great car to learn from.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
I can ask Charlie but he's very hush hush about it. He was upset about me even knowing he has it until I explained how I knew his dad. Sad thing is his dad offered it to me for $35k about 20 yrs ago.......I'm an idiot. I remember thinking how ugly I thought the brown was.
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
that is worth a flight just to go see it!!
|
Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
I'm not gonna dig up the post ,but some guy named something like 69L89vert said something about a 38 mile 69 Z still on MSO back in 2005.

Re: Let's just say......(another WIW Question)
I spoke to a guy a few years ago that claimed to have a car that sounds very similar to this. I purchased a posi unit from him and after talking he said he pulled it out of his "427" 69 Camaro. Very curious we spoke more and indeed he has a COPO 69 Camaro. He also claimed to have purchased a brand new 1969 Z-28 and paid it off in early 1970. Said he just moved to his house, had a wall removed and put car in house and reinstalled the wall. If I am not mistaken I believe he was in Arizona area. I have contacted him a few times to get the COPO but he said the time wasnt right yet. He did send me a few pics of it so I know he at least has a 69 burnished brown Camaro.
