Dana hood question
We're all the 68 camaro dana hood pins close to hood scoops or did some have the pins closer to the outside of the hood?
|
Re: Dana hood question
Here's a Dana 427 without the special hood and the pins were closer to the outside front corners. Could be that it depended on the guy doing the installation.

The condition, and the amount of original parts reused on the car was remarkable. Not to mention the vast amount of paperwork with the car, and its pristine history...BKH |
Re: Dana hood question
Frank Arones paint and body work is absolutely amazing. He is talented to say the least. I guess years of practice has perfected his skills. I bet he has painted more Super Cars than anyone.

Re: Dana hood question
Absolutely agree!! That car looks amazing.
|
Re: Dana hood question
Body and paint are 90% of a great restoration and Frank Arone nailed it on that 68 DANA Camaro. But that didn't come over night, that took years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice to the business. The "MOF"

I have no idea who painted it but Joe and Brian restored it and I'm guessing they chose who to let shoot the paint. |

Re: Dana hood question
my favorite 68 dana car....great job by brian and the team.
does tony lucas still own this car? |
Re: Dana hood question
Yes. That's the car I saw at Franks paint and body Nice car guys

Re: Dana hood question
What's the big mystery... Arone Autobody always did the sheet metal and paint on all Supercar workshop cars.
|
Re: Dana hood question
That car has it all! One of the best threads on the site.. IMO
Only thing missing is its spot in my garage.. lol.. |
Re: Dana hood question
I always liked the placement of the hood pins like the 68 Dana car. And the radiator support is drilled for it. Doing it this way allows you to still use the outbd. bumper stops for adjustment and a better overall fit. JMO.

Re: Dana hood question
Hmmmm, the pics above , Charley's garage ?
Would it be possible to be filled in of what's pictured ? I can make a few out,,,, my curiosity is being teased. |
Re: Dana hood question
That is a old pic, not my garage.
|
Re: Dana hood question
Charley has birds flying around in his garage.
|
Re: Dana hood question
Is that why he doesn't show us his cars here,,,,they've all been "bird blessed" ?
I'm farely new to the site, a member here for a few years and more recently active with some of the forums I'm familiar with. It would be nice to see some of these Super Cars on a more regular basis. Are there areas here I havent found yet to see features on them instead of my Hemmings Muscle Cars or MuscleCar Review ? Thanks |
Re: Dana hood question
If you are willing to wait until spring....some of us take our super cars to the dragstrip and pound on them. You are always welcome to come out and watch the gears come alive !!

Re: Dana hood question
Doug,
I hope to be out there too , in the spring, laying down rubber for the first time in 27 years with this car, god willing. I appreciate the invite and yeah,,,, that's the best "feature" I can hope for. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...928_001913.jpg Tom https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...918_173810.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...918_174025.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...918_173821.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...504_115040.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...928_001219.jpg |

Re: Dana hood question
damn, I used to use old cragar SS caps for wheel chocks.....the good news is the more parts I add the heavier it gets......
....I had to move up to rally caps. I can't wait to find out what wheel chalks are next once the motor and trans is added maybe NONE ! Re: Dana hood question
Thanks, I never raced there but my brother has many times....Bill and his son did a fabulous re do on that facility a few years back..
Brother Joe raced in NMCA till '98 with a Black 65 Corvette in Pro Street.....car ran 7's....they won an event there . He crew chiefs a Pro Nitrous car now. I'm not sure if they have Ran there with it . . they tour nationally. Loaded for Bear .?....with parts, not much motor.... a GM Crate 302 from '71...'warmed up just a bit' but stock internals, intake, carb, Back in the Day it would've run a lower GT Class in AHRA or Modified Stock... |
