Car Cover

I recently bought a '69 Camaro G/SA drag car.
The past owner was meticulous as to how he looked after the car and, from the feedback that I have received so far, it is one of the cleanest Stock Eliminators they have ever seen.

He towed in an enclosed trailer.
Unfortunately, my budget only allowed me an open trailer as the right car was more important to me than an enclosed trailer.

Can someone recommend a car cover that I could use, while trailering, that would keep bugs, dust and rain off the car while not marring the paint.

Thank you in advance.

Not really anything out there for that. I just bit the bullet and purchased a enclosed. Lots to choose from and the prices are all over.

Good Luck

NEVER use a car cover on an open trailer. The wind buffeting will buff the paint right off the edges of the fenders, roof, quarters.....

Not to mention the safety of anyone following you I don't even cover a car inside a trailer. Some guys do

Thank you for all the replies.
That is pretty well what I already thought.

The suggestion of and enclosed trailer sounds nice, but my money has gone into the car and I would not have been able to buy it, if I had bought an enclosed trailer instead of the open one.

It appears that I will be doing a lot of washing and polishing between races...

Interesting. Anybody ever use one or know someone who has used one?

First I'd seen of it Sam. There has hot to be a lot of wind back there, I'd be afraid of something coming loose and wreaking havoc.

they make a pretty decent wind and debri jammer for the front of a open trailer, google them.....car covers are for when your parked

I agree, I'd go with a shield on the front of the open trailer.

----I believe a guy could find a good "used" 24 foot enclosed from Pace or any of the other run of the mill trailer producers for $2500. A friend of mine did just that. Paid $2500 for a 4 year old trailer from a guy that had used it only a dozen times locally.....Bill S

I looked for 2 or 3 years for an affordable, used enclosed trailer.
There was absolutely nothing out there, with 5,200 pound axles, under $6,000.
And at that price, it needed some major TLC.

It is difficult and expensive to get race car insurance and I did not want to trust my investment to a trailer which was not 100% roadworthy.

Hence, the open trailer.
The trailer was $3,400, brand new, and included a spare tire and a winch mount.
I have another $500 in the winch, battery and battery box.

I tow with a 2011 Ram, regular cab, short box, 4x4 and do not even know that trailer is there most of the time.

There is also a certain cool factor in towing a race car to the track on an open trailer.
That was evidenced just by the number of thumbs-up I got on the 7+ hours drive home, from Montreal, with the car.

That’s a steal Bill. I’ve spent the last few months searching and just bought a new Pace 20Ft. I feel I got a good deal and did a lot of homework before hand. Lots of cheap made stuff out there and durability matters, esp when your cargo is a lot more expensive then the trailer.
