69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

6 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, posting this for my father-in-law.

All original drivetrain, 396 with T400 automatic transmission. 70,000 kms. Air shocks added in the rear and carb and valve covers have changed, aside from that all original. $17,500 OBO.

This is a nice solid SS looking for a new home.

Numbers matching for 17.5K great deal! But..No heater, no power brakes, wrong door panels. SS emblems don't look right. Not sure if that is the correct rad support either. For that price all that can be fixed.

Hold on all, I am questioning the authenticity of the car. I will have to get a hold of him to get the vin number.

Re: 69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

Personally I don't think it matters for that kind of money. I didn't even notice that it said matching numbers and figured it was a clone. If that turns out to be a real car then it's priced way too cheap.

Re: 69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

THE CAR HAS A SMALL BLOCK CORE SUPPORT, HARD TO FIND IF YOUR TRYING TO MAKE A BB. NO SS BADGING AND NO BB HEATER BOX, VIN SHOULD READ 11427. WONDER IF IT HAS DUAL EXHAUST HANGERS? looks like a small block radiator. WAs wondering if it is a true ss and how is the trunk ,floors under carriage for rust? Where it the car located? Im in illinois... bob

http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html

This will clear anything up if the car was sold new in Canada. There is a fee.

LOOKS LIKE ORIGINAL REAR SPRINGS. EVERY BB AUTOMATIC CAR IVE HAD OR RESTORED HAS 4 LEAF SPRINGS. THIS LOOKS LIKE 5. THIS WAS PROBABLY A SMALL BLOCK CAR. I SOLD A CANADIAN DOCUMENTED 69 L78 TURBO 40O CAR A MONTH COUPLE A MONTHS AGO 4 LEAF AND THE GM DOCS ARE THE BEST....IS THERE A 12 BOLT IN THIS CAR???? DUAL EXHAUST HANGERS??

What's so great about a 69 ss 396?? You see them all the time at car shows, just saw two this weekend... :dunno:

Re: 69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

I have my doubts about original big block status....if this is a real Canadian delivered car, then that could be resolved pretty quick.

Lots of little stuff that isn't right...but for that money, if it runs good and the body is solid...I don't think you can get hurt too bad.

That's also not a Nova console.

"All Original Drive train"!!! I really have my doubts as too much stuff doesn't add up. My question is "why no heater box, power brakes" and yes that is a '68 steering wheel insert. Didn't SS cars have disc brakes? If so wouldn't they have been power? The gauges in the console should be black as well. Camaro's are white-Nova's are black faced. Is it an L35,L34 or a '78? Too many concerns.....

Re: 69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

If I was in the market to buy,I know where there are 2 4 spd 396 '69 SS's-1 with Canadian doc's 350 hp Silver w/ Red interior for $19K US and another which is a real L78 bench 4 spd that has a real L88 in it from '70 in it's original Butternut Yellow for $22K US as well.So having said that, which one would you buy.A car that needs work or one that you can just buy and drive?

This is where the line should be drawn! The guy who is a member is trying to sell his father's car and should not have to listen to so called experts disparage his car for Christ sake. Sounds like you should buy both of those cars if they are real. The guy is asking no money for it in my opinion. Can't we be a little nicer?

Rebelrouser: You shouldn't be telling us about those two cars.....I think you should have bought both already.

Stop picking the car to death!Leave that to the Corvette forums! You could buy this Nova for $15K. U.S.So stop ripping it apart to just show off what an ''expert''you are.

Re: 69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

Please play nice everyone. I don't think Jamesson was trying to pull a fast one. I think he was misinformed about the car by his father in law. Car looks pretty nice for what it is and the price seems fair. Yes we should point out when something isn't represented right but I agree with Don. This is a member trying to sell a car and it is not the thread to be talking about supposedly cheaper-better ones out there for sale etc.

Right on Charley!

Re: 69 Nova 396 SS for Sale

Thanks for the feedback all. As you are aware this nova is far from numbers matching. Actually doesn't look like anything on the car was original. Off the line it was green and sporting a 6 cylinder. Sadly my father-in-law really did think he had what was stated but VIN can't be argued. This car is not up to par for this site so I will remove it from here and have him put it up for sale locally at a substantially lower price.
Thank you
Jamesson

Still worth the money. leave it on the Site. A real nice inexpensive musclecar that someone can take to any car show. I bet a blast to drive too. Could not paint that car for that money!

I agree with Sam, don't take it off the site. It's a decent car for a decent price.
