LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
Some entertainment for you guys. One seller is claiming to have an LS6 Chevelle convertible, and the previous owner has its original protecto plate for sale on another auction proving it's an original 350 car.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
I think I would rather have the nice original 350 Malibu car BEFORE its "restoration", nice black and white colors, great 350-4v engine, it should have had a 12 bolt with that engine
edit: rereading the fake LS6 ad, the seller DOES leave loopholes to keep him out of trouble: "<span style="color: #FF6600">SUPER NICE RARE 1970 CHEVELLE CONVERTIBLE</span> WITH THE SS 454/450 HIGH PERFORMANCE LS6 - ENGINE" car is a 1970 Malibu convertible, it has a 454 engine in it now "AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES THIS CAR IS VERY NICELY DONE ALSO AND JUST RECENTLY HAD A COMPLETE PROFESSIONAL FRAME OFF CONCOURS ROTISSORIE RESTORATION,EVERY NUT AND BOLT AND DETAIL <span style="color: #FF6600">WAS DONE TO FACTORY SS LS6 SPECS</span>" car WAS restored, just not to the way it left the assembly line in 1970 "The Vin number matches the Block number" meaning the block was re-stamped :p |

Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
I emailed a question to the Ebay ad asking if it was originally a 350 car. We'll see how he responds.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
He just responded saying "yes, I believe so" to my inquiry about whether it was an original 350 car.
Looks to be a well done clone for $70k. You certainly couldn't build it for that, I would think. |
Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
I sent an email asking if it is a factory built LS-6 convertible. See the response below.
James Q: Dear ceo$, Very nice looking car. Is this a factory built LS-6 convertible? A: yes, from what I can tell. it is an amazing car. - ceo$ |
Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
Yeah, I just got a second email from the Seller where he backtracks on his first response:
<span style="font-style: italic">I'm sorry, I miss understood your question, I don’t believe this car to be a clone, a guy contacted me on two of my cars asking me if I would like to buy a protecto plate matching what ever data I need and I declined both times, than he said he has the original protecto plate for my LS6 for 15,000, than 10,000, he went all the way down to 1,000, and I still declined at any price, I have no interest in doctoring up data, the red car he shows in the pictures is not mine, he says in his ad the (QUOTE “I seen the owner of the car now has the car listed for sale it is repainted red”), how does he have pictures of the car in red when I supposedly painted it red? I bought the car as an LS6, the block numbers matched the VIN and look very clean. I apologize for the confusion and issue as the car is amazing.</span> |

"misunderstood your question"....he's having trouble remembering his lies.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
Well, at least he got the body number right on the repop trim tag. Owner has been so thoroughly 'owned' by the P.O. that I'm surprised he has continued to play dumb. Hope no one gets taken on the car. We ought to clue in Hemmings or Jalopnik...I'm sure they would love to blog about this on their sites.

Re: LS6 Chevelle Convertible, 350 Malibu protectoplate
Yep. I think it is about time to gather up lots of info and introduce the local police to certain individuals. Put them out of business and hopefully in jail. At the very least, make their names a household name so any time a car comes up with their name attached buyers can do a search and find out who they really are as well as making them pay LOTS of attorney fees.
