15x4 Cragar wheels
Looking for a real nice set with 4.75 bolt pattern.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I think that a set of 15x3 SS Cragar Wheels 4.75 bolt pattern would be hard to get too. I think this could work for you too. Are the 15x4 SS Cragar a street wheel.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I think the new versions are 15X4.5 inch. Tough to find 15X4's that are nice enough to use and reasonable.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Are the new 15x4.5 SS Cragar a street versions or go 15x5 SS Cragar or 15x6 SS Cragar too.

Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
hi
i found a pr of 15X4 NOS at carlisle swap in the spring i am putting them on the 1957 gasser my daughter and i are building....so they are around i always say the hunt is most of the fun i will keep a watch out for you also...we have a number of good swap meets coming up regards chris |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Thanks for input on new ones but want to stay vintage correct. Finding a nos or real nice set will be hard.Good score at carlisle Chris. Still looking. Thank you and I agree the hunt is the most fun.

Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
If money is not an object buy used ones off Ebay and have them rechromed. They show up now and then. Whats the difference between the old and new versions?
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
A lot of vintage correct. To re-chrome SS Cragar Wheels you have to under-cut the weld to take the cast centers out by pressing them out,the SS Centers crack up and brake some times doing this. Then you have to find other SS Centers.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
BUY the new ones!
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I am having a pair of 15x4 replated now. Should be getting them back in a few days.
They said they could do the job, we'll see |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I am sure you will be happy. Is it worth the money? Up to the individual. I do not believe they take the wheels apart though but I may be wrong.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Sam call them so you will know what is what instead of guessing.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
There is a group in Calif. that will cut the spoke out, replate the
two pieces and then Tig weld them back together. They get $500 a wheel. The guys I'm using do them whole. We'll see. |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I like the guys you are using Richard.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
The guys you are using "that do them whole" do you have a name or some thing for them. Thank you.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
The plater sent me a pic of the wheels with the nickel
on them. They look good. Will ship out Tues. or Wed. We'll see. Richard |

I think Pauls Chrome does them too Paulie. |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
The only way I have seen SS Cragar Wheels done is when they take them apart, separated divided or broken. Any pictures Sam.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
any pictures of what Paulie?

Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Pictures of Paul's chroming process? Gotta go to their website I guess. I don't have any.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Got my Cragar SS 15x4's back from the plater today.
They look great. I am 100% satisfied with their work. Atlas Plating, Houston TX. Richard |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Before and after?
I'm happy to help post the pics. 5th box above or email them to me. Really excited to see them! |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
How was the price less than $500.00 a wheel or you can't say.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Price was $250.00 each. Plan on putting them on my car this saturday. I am going to get my son to come by this weekend and help me figure out how to post pictures on here. what does 5th box above mean?
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Look four boxes to the right of the box with the smiley face.
Just above where you type in your replies. Kurt |

It would be good to see pictures.

Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
My son will help me with the pics this weekend. I'm pretty darn picky when it comes to my car. The wheels look really good.
Richard |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
The new ones are "flat spokes" and guys like us can spot them pretty easily. Great find on those NOS Carlisle pick. Can I ask what you had to pay?
Also, try GTO DON here. He has a large inventory. |

Nope that didn't work. what did I do wrong?

|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
Thanks Scuncio you fixed it.
Richard |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
"WOW" they look nice and have a lot of pop with the shine too.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
They look nice but since the centers are chromed now they look very similiar to the new Cragars except for being direct fit.
Tommy |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
How could they look like the "new cragars". They're not the new ones.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
New Cragar centers are chrome like the outer rims where as vintage Cragars are not. They are more dull in the centers. That is the difference between new and vintage...and the straight lug of course.
Nothing wrong with yours...they are great and look bad ass on the Camaro! Great stance as well! Dave 67 Nova Boy |
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
What everyone's saying is that the original Cragars had terrible, crappy chrome around the lug area that was sometimes fluffed with silver paint. Yours look awesome.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I looked at the SS Cragars Wheels on the front of "The Grump" 68 Camaro,on this site, and they look good around the lug area no fluff needed. Back in the day they look good or they were "fluffed",I don't know, but back in the day I remember that they all ways look good. Did Cragar make the wheels better back then or the wheels were not beat up yet,I don't know. But I like the look of Cragars on cars.
|
Re: 15x4 Cragar wheels
I believe the older Cragars had aluminum centers which made them look a little different and also the spokes were more round than today. Check with the Guru's on that. Car looks real good Richard.
