Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
Car has met the reserve in 2 days! We'll see if he's a real buyer soon enough. Somebody's gonna get a deal if it doesn't go any higher.

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
So I finally hear from my high bidder on eBay and the guy tells me somebody hacked his computer and he didn't bid on it. The only problem I have with that is when I checked on what he has bid on in the last six months he bidded on another 70 chevelle in June. When I asked him about this he said he did bid on that one but the car turned out to be fake....WTF...... I hate liars. Something is fishy here. All I know is he ruined my auction and now I can't run it again because people will think the car is no good and that's why the first buyer backed out. Happens every time. Any trades accepted or I guess I'll have to paint it. I'M LEAVING HIM BAD FEEDBACK

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
Jerks . I didn't think eBay sellers could leave negative feedback for a buyer any more???

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
I JUST TRIED AND CANT! Man you dont have no rights anymore for somebody like this.
|
Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
It has happened a few times with me, too. Absolute clowns out there. See if you can contact the 2nd or 3rd highest bidder to make a deal. Hope it works out for you!

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
Report him as a non paying bidder.

The shame is ebay won't do nothing to him...Maybe suspend someone's account for three months and it will stop. Also I appreciate telling to try the second and third bidder but that never works out for me. They always think that the first guy passed for a reason and the car must be a piece of shit. The good news is its not the end of the world being stuck with a numbers matching 70 chevelle.

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
Run a new auction as if nothing happened. You would be surprised how many times people start looking on e-bay never knowing about a past auction. If you mention the past auction then it brings a negative tone and it is not needed. The car speaks for it's self and it will sell at your price.

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
I would relist the car and add a copy of the email from the "hacked" bidder. I had a bidder tell me he accidently placed on one of my auctions several years ago. I asked how he "accidently" bid when the bidding was a 3 step process. Did he accidently go through all 3 steps? He didn't respond to my question.

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
Found two build sheets and both were attached to the springs on the bottom rear seat. Took the car apart today and stripped it to bare metal. Going to repaint it an take it to the next level and then maybe back for sale.

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
They are exactly the same as yours. One was darker print than the other.

Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
You know I don't think it's too bad. Definitely undercoated thou. The strange thing for me and I'm always trying g to explain to people is why was my car built in Canada and sold New in New Jersey? Can anyone explain that one when we have a plant right here in Baltimore.

I've looked @ a few Oshawa '70 Chevelles' with that oil recommendation sticker.
Here's one that was ziebarted and had the plastic inner fenders covered. The owner was unaware of the label on the P/S inner fender, and asked me to wipe it off for him. |
Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
I remember those decals being on some of our other fine GM Canada products too, maybe even trucks? Decals available now as GM licensed repops here.... http://www.drdecal.com/viewitem.php?productid=200 The William St. address on the decals is flat land now, not sure what Oshawa has saved of the original GM Canada downtown Oshawa operation if any? Re: 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed "Barn Find"
Here we are 1 month later and the car is done. Stripped to bare metal,Diamont base/clear paint,New weatherstrips, pulled glass, fenders and hood, changed the vinyl top and added white stripes to it. It's absolutely stunning now!!!!Looks like a different car. Asking 45k now. Trades considered...No disappointment. I'll try to post pics soon. I do have lots of pics on my phone. 267-246-6903

Shame on them because without sellers they would not make any money for there share holders. </div></div> my thoughts exactly I have been "suggesting" they allow the sellers to rate the sellers the same way the sellers are rated (dashboard) no response ... |

</div></div> Very nice original as found car. I love seeing pictures like this. The first things I noticed is the tower clamps on the air cleaner breather hose. I don't think I have ever seen them on a restored car. Very interesting. Good luck with the sale. Jason |
