Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
Guys seeing if there may be some interest for my 69 z28 i found. It has 33k orig miles and is the most orig z28 i have seen in a long time, under the hood its all orig down to the factory smog system(never removed) and all components ie :radiator, dist, alt, valve covers ,master cyl, recall strap, reverse lockout, even still has the orig E-70-15 speedway spare never used, all orig yh wheels, looks like someone just shut off the key in 1972.The drive train has never been removed or tampered with in any way not even fluffed or detailed since 1969 when it rolled off the assy line,This is a true all#s matching car born with drivetrain car with beautiful factory options of cowl induction, power steering ,tach@gauges ,spoilers, tint glass,am radio,373 posi,m20 trans.Has a old repaint and needs some tlc on the body but a super solid car that would easily pass for a survivor if it wasn't for a 30yr old respray this is the car to have espically if u can do your own paint work, these 69 z28 are starting to bring huge money again espically if u have a real honest car like this one ...asking 43k. serious interest please call... also going to be selling a real all #s matching 1of1 67 chevelle L79 proj car with fact a/c.. possible trades.570-854-0896

That's like a certain blonde Swedish divorcee posting:
"Anyone interested in dating a lonely, millionaire, supermodel who dumped her famous pro golfer hubby? I'll even pay for the dinner and drinks...". |

It may be an early car when head restraints were optional.

looks like it has the chrome trim... never knew they made 69's w/o headrests..???? |
Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
They never made a 69 without headrest. They just charged for them on window stickers before the 1st of the year.

Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
243,085 '69 Camaros were produced of which 242,750 came with headrests.
http://camaros.org/headrest.shtml <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> 1969 For 1969, headrests became a NHTSA requirement. Although the regulation didn't actually take effect until January 1, 1969, Chevrolet built all 1969 Camaros with headrests unless a special RPO was used to delete the headrests. From introduction in August, 1968 through December 31, 1968, RPO A82 was a factory default option that added an additional $16.90 to the window sticker. After January 1, 1969, the base price of the Camaro was adjusted to include the option. For cars assembled before January 1, 1969, customers could order the "Headrest Delete" option (RPO AR1). The front seats would be assembled with the headrest mounting hardware on the seatframe, but the headrest itself was not installed. In its place, a cover was installed over the escutcheon to plug the hole. Only 335 customers opted for RPO AR1, making it extremely rare 1. An example is shown on the window sticker below.</div></div> |

You obviously didn't read the first page of the thread where it says "sold"....over 6 months ago. Having items for sale in your 'signature' is also a no-no, especially when you're a non-paying member here. |
Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
In 35+ years of looking, buying, selling 1969 Gm cars I personally have never seen an original car without headrest unless it was a butchered piece of crap. Just my observations.

Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
A number of years ago there was a 69 Chevelle SS396 for sale by the original owner down in the Carolinas. He still had the original window sticker and it showed the headrest delete on the sticker.

Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
Of course that is my 69 L-78 has been spoken about a couple times here on the board. Head rest delete bench seat 4-aspeed. Original owner wanted it that way so he could put his arm around his girl...
Donny take notice, can't say you never saw one again! http://www.classicperformance.com/ebay_pics/nohr.jpg |
Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
Weird but true stuff. My '69 W-31 was ordered to race and then sell (4th out of 4 race cars) and was a relatively early build----10b. The original paperwork lists the "A82 Head Restraints" as an option. At that point, the base price had not reflected the Federally Mandated change.

Re: Any interest in a unrestored all orig 69 z28???
Come to think about it. Growing up as teenager in the mid sixties, many bench seat cars didn't have headrests. As for "Original owner wanted it that way so he could put his arm around his girl"... Sounds right to me. Then buckets came along which put distance between you and your date or spouse. Today, we are further distanced from our mates as a result of the cell phone. Just look at couples in restaurants or even at home. Killer Chevelle. I thought for a moment that I was going to have to press my "help I've fallen button"
