12 bolt spring perches

Anybody out there in SYC land have a set of GM 12 bolt spring perches that they wouldn't mind parting with? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Mark - somebody modified the actual perches on this rear - good used ones will also work if anybody has some.

Thanks Jerry - the re-pro ones aren't quite correct. I'll check with GM tomorrow (didn't even consider that they may still be on the shelf). Anyone who is willing to part with a set of nice used - please PM or email me.

Re: 12 bolt spring perches

FWIW, I had a BE rear that had the perches modified. The guy I bought it from had the repo perches installed and when I got the rear it was determined that the perches were not put on correctly. The perches are to have a slight angle to them so the leaf springs will fit properly when installed to the frame. This is very key, and of course they need to be :clocked: properly as well.

Long story short, the rear was brought to Moser in Indiana, and they replaced the perches, ensured proper alignment, installed new bearing and made everything right. Great service!!

Thanks for the info Eddie - my original perches are not cut all the way off - just modified. So I have the proper orientation still in place (hopefully). I've got a RH perch coming - still need LH - anybody? I'll take a set if need be. NOS or good used is OK.

I believe 2 degrees angled "in" at the front of each perch.
I am sure someone can confirm.

Yes, 2*, or 88* off 90. The repop perches must be relieved some where they fit the axle tube. I fixed one hack job on a 69 Camaro with the reproduction perches. Had the axle housing upside down with the leaf springs held in place with the front and rear diamentions secured with some wood strips to act as a guide.
I think the repop ones are good, but they lack some detail, like the stiffening indents on each side.

Re: 12 bolt spring perches

I found something on ebay that might help out in your search for perches. This auction is for a 10 bolt housing with what looks like multi leaf perches. The seller would probably cut the tubes and send the perches to you and scrap the rear axle housing. If the perches are correct for your axle it is worth a try. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-81-Cama...50&vxp=mtr The price is hard to beat and its close to you. I have a pair of perches but they were welded onto a '69 Chevelle rear end so it would be a major job to get the excessive welds cleaned up. Clint
