Have I found a real Yenko?
Guys had a friend tell me about someone he knew had a 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova. The car is about gone as far as being able to restore and what not but has a clear title and tags and what not. I have a VIN# for the car I can private message someone who might be able to help me out. I have looked at the list on here of the 120 known Yenko VINs and its not on there but there are what 55 VIN's missing any info? The car is originally Hugger Orange. The rear end is missing, as is the front half of the car. The title says Yenko Deuce right on it, its a Kentucky Title.

Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Well I'd say if it's a real yenko it can/should/ and will be restored if it can be bought!

Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
The KY prospect is not a Yenko Deuce,

Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Was it a real Hugger Orange car Marlin?
|
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Yes, with a black v/t, triple moldings, and custom interior - so not a Deuce.
|
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
speaking of old Deuce stories
was this a real Deuce wheel? saw this when looking for something in ebay completed auctions 231185317609 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Yenko-Duece...=true&rt=nc |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Sure looks it!
|
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Marlin
That rim, center decal & cap look to be authentic,(No trim rings on YDeuce wheels),but the E78 Goodrich white stripe tire mounted to it?...maybe remounted by owner to another 14 X 7 magnum rim as a spare? Didn't SS wheels on a Deuce dictate white lettered tires? |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Hard to believe that's all it reached, especially w/ 3 bidders as even the cap is worth more alone and would be easy to pop off and ship. Best of the deal may be the buyer has the opportunity to quiz the seller where he got it from and can try backtracking to the car? ~ Pete |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Lots of Deuces had trim rings added later, some had them added by the selling dealer. The tire would be a replacement. Deuces retained their XT wheel as a spare, no Magnum 500's in the trunks.

I would love to hear more about your car. |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Well it's a rolling skeleton now, forest green with white stripes and black interior. Not sure what I'm going to do with it..

Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Well the firestorm will start now ....your PM box will fill up rather quickly....I need some popcorn and peanuts to watch this show !! In all seriousness ...good luck with your venture ...there are some good guys on this site. Try Schonye at Deuce Heaven in Donahue Iowa. Good folks that live amongst the corn stalks

Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Love to hear more about your car also welcome aboard Tom! Besides NCRS docs coming back Yenko, do you know any history of the car? Also, is the original rear axle still with the car but engine/trans MIA? ~ Pete |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Good luck with your find....
....but How do you know it is a real Yenko Deuce ..... and not a regular nova that was purchased at yenko? |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Is your Deuce find an automatic? That inventory sheet is uncirculated. Earl

Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Check for F41 sway bar hangers welded to the bottom side. And pics of them, and other shots would be appreciated. Might help you identify what it was , and how it was equipped. Also as was stated above, the code on the rear axle tube is a big deal if it's the correct one.
Good luck. |

Yes, it is automatic. I'm going to start a new thread about the story of this car soon; and with the help of Marlin, Schonye and Vince, I'm in the process of compiling information/documentation/history now... All of it's life has been accounted for, except for a space of time between June 1970 - spring 1973... |

I haven't seen a 70 nova "build sheet" I am curious as to how the build sheet would call out the different wheels? And paint color indications for the different wheels? |
Re: Have I found a real Yenko?
Have you created a new thread yet about this car? Did I miss it?

I didn't create a new thread yet because I'm still trying to gather information about it. The guy I bought it from is elderly, and doesn't have a phone or email. I think he checks his mailbox twice a year, and lives twenty hours away. This car has only had (about) four owners (including me), has not been titled or driven by three of them. Then it was cut up into a racecar when it was three years old (but never raced) and ended up sitting in indoor and outdoor storage for the next 41 years. So as a result, information on this car may only be gleaned from one or more of the previous three owners or their families, or maybe by someone who has seen this car burning up the streets or 1/4 mile racetracks of Pennsylvania or Michigan sometime between 1970 and 1973.... |
