Couple of pictures of a Vintage Air install done by Harbor Auto Restorations in Rockledge, FL.
No drilling, cutting etc. done to the car, everything can be removed and car returned to original condition. |
Re: '70 Hemi 'Cuda Vintage air install
Nice job Mike. Is the compressor in the power steering pump location?
I remember lusting after that FK5 car at last year's Mecum Indy. Glad to see you're enjoying it. |

Re: '70 Hemi 'Cuda Vintage air install
Yes, way down and out of sight.
The holes for all the a/c lines are all ready there as they offered the option of factory A/C on some of the E body cars. The guy I bought it from was nice enough even after taking a beating to Fedex mail me all the Resto pictures, receipts, everything. |
Re: '70 Hemi 'Cuda Vintage air install
That looks like a really nice clean job.

Re: '70 Hemi 'Cuda Vintage air install
Now that I gave a second look at the install photos I was thinking that the installer probably could route the steel refrigerant lines along the passenger side frame rail and under the engine, given that the compressor is now mounted at the bottom of the engine in the power steering position. That would make it almost completely invisible.

Re: '70 Hemi 'Cuda Vintage air install
Good idea, I wonder how "easy" that would be?
I think you buy the "pre fit" kits for the plumbing and those are designed to run in the factory E body install location. |
Re: '70 Hemi 'Cuda Vintage air install
Next time I stop by I want the keys to make sure the A/C is working correctly.......

When I inquired about the car back in the boom years of '05 or '06 at Aloha they wanted a quarter-million for it in that condition (!). I always loved its condition, that's the way I like muscle cars - like a used car, but not used up. Different strokes fer different folks. |
