Built the same week as my L78.

Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
Love everything about that car
|
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
Same week as my Z as well. The VIN is 9N574108. This car was on Ebay a while back.
Not suggesting anything by this, but I've documented two other 01B Z's and they both had engine assembly dates of first week of Jan. Would really like to see the VIN stamp on his engine. Based on all the other numbers/dates he's presented, odds are its legit. Love that color! |
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
priced way too high
priced way too high [/quote
I agree, the car is priced too high. I think $60,000-$65,000 is more realistic, they made 20,000 1969 Z/28s, and as nice as it appears,I do not see this car going for that asking price. |
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
I disagree on the price (if everything is as seems with this one). There are a very limited number of original 69 Z's and the ones restored to "correct" are pulling 100k fairly easily. How much more for an original car with only 14k that has not been hacked up as a racer?
I'd say it's easily a 80-85k car, and probably worth the 99k to the right person. Rich |
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
I see this often, everyone goes apechit over an unrestored survivor yet it's less valuable than a restored version???? NOT in my arena! I'd hold out for your money, it'll happen.
|
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
I'd take the survivor over any restored car any day! Only original once.

X2...plus some people just don't have that kind of money to blow on a restoration. |
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
If it was an RS with a deluxe interior and an unpainted motor, it would probably be gone. Its an X77 car also. $100,000 can buy you 2 real nice cars in my opinion.

Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
I dunno Sam..... Nice drivers maybe. 69 Z's have started shooting up again, even bringing more than (gasp) 69 COPO's in some cases.
I agree that the motor should have been untouched.... and that there are more desirable options. It is however nice to see the original flat hood no spoiler look. Rich |
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
yes they have shot up again Rich. The do specify original paint! Hey, did not say I didn't like it but that is a salty number for a non RS car but that is only my opinion. I have a flat hood Z/28. Love that look.

Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
Notice the original shock cap cover in the trunk!!

X2. It's looks to be "Freshened up" under the hood, it's not an RS, and its green. Looks great, I'll give you that, but it's not $99,000. Maybe $65,000 @ best. Survivor cars are always worth more than a restored car IMHO

not that I was looking to spend that kind of dough but the engine repaint was an immeidiate turn off. |

My thoughts exactly

Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
If the engine compartment is painted, those wanting originality are turned off. If he didnt detail it, theyd say hes asking too much for a car that needs resto. He just needs to find a buyer that likes exactly what he has. Just a matter of time, its a real nice car.
|
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
You are both right. Its really up to the buyer what he prefers

Chuck, could not have said it better. Thank you |
Re: 1969 Z/28 - 14,000 Original Miles !!!
Kinda reminds me of a '68 Mustang I found that was as it left Dearborn. Car had EVERYTHING original, flaws and all with 44k miles. I sold it to a wholesaler (I bought it to sell) and he painted the engine compartment, changed the plug wires, blended the chipped paint---basically ruined the car. He took it to about five venues before he finally cut it loose and lost thousands of dollars. I distinctly remember telling him to "LEAVE IT ALONE", but he thought he knew it all.
The engine painted here isn't the worst thing in the world. True, WE ALL would have left it alone. Maybe, whoever painted the engine and did the fluff just thought he was making improvements. Oh well!?! |
