1970 Motion Performance Nova

I was just wondering if anybody knows where the Blue 396/375 HP nova is that was on this site several years ago. Car was not a Baldwin Motion car but was converted at Motion Performance and had Motion Performance stamped on back of engine. I wanted to contact the owner I think I have the original letter that was signed by Joel Rosen and think he has the copy. The last owner was from Canada. If anybody knows him let him know to contact me Robby @ [email protected]

Hi:
Would love to see that letter. Neither Joel Rosen nor Motion Performance stamped engines with ID when converting Baldwin-Motion Chevys or working on "shop order" cars. Never saw one that was legit. Just sayin'

I remember that car and here's one of the threads you're referring to including a few previous/current owners.

Re: 1970 Motion Performance Nova

I am certainly not questioning letter from Joel. But all it really means is that car may have been worked on at Motion Performance, like hundreds or even a thousand cars over the years that Motion was in business in Brooklyn and later in Baldwin, LI. If engine had been sent out for work, maybe the machine shop stamped it to ID the block. Not trying to take anything away from the car, just trying to put things in perspective. All the typical Motion add-on parts were available over the counter at Motion and via mail order from catalog and magazine advts.
Would be great if shop invoices for car were found,
Marty

It may be your browser. Sometimes the computer I have at the office won't load any of the photos on this site. So maybe that is your issue?

I don't know if this is the reason but I'm having a ton of trouble keeping logged in and if your not logged in you won't see the letter as I just did.

See if that helps any one.

YOU AND ME BOTH BROTHER.

If the orig owner of this car takes the time to find the orig owner like I did with my Motion altered
Camaro
then with a witnessed letter from the orig owner will legitimize this car, especially if the orig owner is an upstanding citizen of the community and not just a derelict.
How can you expect Joel to remember all those cars he worked on, thousands of cars.????????

Has JR ever confirmed with any legitimacy any car presented to him?
Every one I come across seems to be a "maybe", "likely", or "not sure but probably".

Re: 1970 Motion Performance Nova

There are some definite confirmation letters. I've read a few. Some cars have never lost their Motion identity since they were created- both in condition and public awareness.

Re: 1970 Motion Performance Nova

I've never seen a car confirmed by any of 'Motion's old invoices' .. The cars I've seen documented by Joel are either 'always known cars' or cars that have original paperwork and/or documentation provided by car owner. When I spoke to Joel years ago he said he only had " some " original paperwork...

I wonder what some means?

Re: 1970 Motion Performance Nova

I wonder what the difference is on the price of a documented by a Joel letter Camaro vs an original owner letter verifying a motion motor transplant. does anyone have an example to go by.
bullit prof documents a must in order to compare
