STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
I got an email from Boomer last night. He said that his friend's 1972 Chevelle and enclosed trailer were stolen this past Saturday evening. The trailer, which is a black, was parked off HWY 14 near Johnson Tractor on the east side of Janesville. He parked it there after retuning from Byron Dragway earlier that day. Please pass this along to try and find it!
Thanks, Kurt https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-p10206821.jpg |

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Ryan, I'm trying to get more info but unfortunately I'm leaving for work soon.
The guy just got back from the track and parked it Saturday night.....the next morning it was gone. Pretty low. IMO Thanks, Kurt |
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
GPS I here is a new good way to keep track of your valuable rides. Maybe one of you can comment on this that have some experience

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Here is the info I just received.
Chevelle VIN: 1D37F2K599974 Chevelle plate: 1bad72 Trailer VIN: 4FGL20203VA945326 Trailer plate: XR35693 FeatherLite Forest Green Trailer 8X20 I was initially told that it was black but it's a dark green. Thanks again, Kurt |
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
I was told to take a phone and hide it in the car somewhere. Have it hooked up with a charger to the battery to keep it charged. That way it can be located (pinged?).

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
I hate to hear this.....Hope they find the bastards! I will keep my eyes open.

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
UPDATE:
Trailer has been found but no car! |
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Remember COPOPETE's car theft, maybe there are known car theft rings in the area that will negotiate for a little cash?

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Where was the tralier found in IL. or Wis...... Or another state?
Dan |
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Dan, the trailer was found in Darien, WI. A friend of mine shared my post on Facebook and one of his friends saw the post while he was at work and noticed the trailer near his work place.

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
That's a great looking Chevelle, hope they find it.
Great leg work Kurt Dan |

----Wow, that is a DARK green. I also hope the ass~~~~~ get caught and punished (properly, if you get my drift)......Bill S

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
I would watch craigs list. They will unload it cheap. Being a drag car, they will just sell as a bill of sale.
|
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Or worse they will scalp the car for its parts and leave the carcass for dead... savages
|
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
It may take law enforcement to obtain it but worth asking the Byron track folks if a participant list from the same weekend is available also would trucks given pit access be req'd to give their plate #'s?
You'd think there's gotta be cameras on route between where the trailer was grabbed and dropped that may show it driving by w/ suspect tow vehicle? If law enforcement can't help perhaps $ may persuade a gas station or somewhere that may have tapes to share? Keep in mind surveillance systems sometimes loop tape/record over footage in 3/7 days or whatever so time of the essence! Lastly a long shot perhaps but would the crooks maybe leave their own trailer behind when hooking another and return later for theirs...so any lone trailers left behind in the area may be worth noting plate #'s? Was the original plate still on the stolen trailer when found? Crooks are usually stupid so think smart and best of luck tracking the bastards! ~ Pete |

There is a $2500 reward for the conviction of the thief/thieves. Thanks, Kurt |

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Yes Kurt the reward has increased to $5000 to encourage anybody with information leading to the arrest and conviction of thief or thieves to come forward. Again the car was stolen was Sunday evening. There was a suspicious maroon 2000-2004 SUV seen in the area with a bald headed gentleman doing something in the rear of the vehicle that evening. The trailer was recovered outside of Darien in a parking lot off Creek Road. Unfortunately car, all the tools and many other items were gone.
All calls or emails will remain anonymous!! Please contact me by Cell: Bob 608-295-4703 or Christa 608-371-3453 or your local law enforcement Email: |
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
I just put the word out on some of my car groups on facebook ... I hope you guys find the car and the trash who stole it... my fingers are crossed that it comes home intact

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Thanks for all the replies. Hopefully it will be found as there are A LOT of people looking for it.

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
it really disgusts me when these scumbags set their sights on something someone worked so hard to build ... i refuse to sit by and let them get away with it.. I have peole in about 25 states spreading the word and keeping an eye out for the car. I hope they retreive it in one piece and these lousy s.o.b's get whats coming to them.

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
This is Bob, the owner of the 72 Chevelle. I sincerely appreciate everybody's help for getting the word out. EVERY tip no matter how big or small helps us get one step closer to a possible arrest. Anybody that has spent years building a car can certainly understand my loss. Blood, sweat and tears were poured into "My Baby" over the years.
|
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
well Bob ... i am in california, but I have tried to spread the word to anyone that I think will help ... all of the guys in my cars groups on FB have shared the post and my friends back east have put the word out. I really hope you find your baby.. and hopefully you invest in some kind of protection so this doesnt happen again. I also hope these jerks have their day in court or even their day behind an abandoned warehouse with you, your buddies and a lead pipe... If there is anything else I can do to help just inbox me .. I am at your mercy sir.

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Bob, the owner of the Chevelle, informed me that the car was possibly seen in the Appleton area. He told me to get the word out. Let's find this car!
If ANYONE is going to Byron or Union Grove this weekend.....PLEASE contact me or Bob as we are looking for a specific vehicle/person that was at Byron last Saturday. Thanks, Kurt |
Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
The guys over on jalopnik.com have found several stolen cars in the last little while - get it posted up as a story over there and let them go to work. I don't know how they do it but that network of guys and gals are like bloodhounds.

Re: STOLEN 1972 Chevelle
Whenever I hear of someones classic being stolen I feel it is my duty to try and spread the word or do something .... anything to help. I am 38 and I learned from the older genrations that classic cars bring us all together... when one falls we all fall ... Now I also read that Kenny Wayne Shepards 72 chrager was stolen this past weekend. It makes me sick
