Nice gem! The rarely seen '74 Z is cool find especially with it's born-with drivetrain!

I'm digging the looks of the 74 the more I look at it. More pics to come when I have some time to get a good look at it.

Always liked the one-year-only styling of the '74's.

Those hood graphics were cool! Nice running gear combo too.

A restored one just sold on eBay recently for around 15K. Almost bought it. These may be the next cars to start taking off price wise.

Had a friend in high school with a similar car except no stripes and it was an auto. Id love to have a 74 Z to go with dads 77 Z. I've always been a fan of the big bumper Z's since you rarely see them.

Congrats Matt; cool find.

Not to get away from the subject, but I can tell you a VERY unique '74 owned by one of our Yenko.net members will be unveiled Saturday morning, November 23 at the MCACN show in the Nickey display!

Matt,

Does that car have a saginaw trans?? Just curious because 5 mins after I got my 74 Z home, I did a holeshot and blew the trans . When I pulled the trans. I was surprised it was not a muncie or T-10??

I always wondered if that trans was original or if they came with a muncie or T-10 by 74?? Wasn't 74 the year GM went to the alum super T-10??

good luck with it !!!

Re: 1974 Camaro Z/28 Swap Meet Find.

cool... thankss... I figured they should have the hipo trans... i guess mine had been changed.. I didnt know better back then.. but was really bummed when I saw it wasn't a muncie... I bought the car to part out and never checked before i bought it. It was a good running car..just had lots of rot.

I always liked the 'black sheep' after I had that car..

So is your this next project??

So I dug into this car this morning. Original motor, transmission, rear end, carb, distributor, pulleys etc. Wrong alternator and starter.

I already have 4 irons in the fire that I don't think will ever get finished. I don't need anymore projects for the time being. I will try to get this one running though.

What's the deal with the blue 67?

Fast67VelleN2O 10-29-2013 06:11 PM

Re: 1974 Camaro Z/28 Swap Meet Find.

LOS built 67 Camaro. Original MB coded 327 with original smog parts still attached, has Muncie 4 speed, 10 bolt rear. Blue/blue standard. Pretty rough but all there.

Re: 1974 Camaro Z/28 Swap Meet Find.

Sounds cool. Someone will restore that one if it's complete. Strange that it would have the Muncie and the 10-bolt.

Fast67VelleN2O 10-29-2013 07:34 PM

Re: 1974 Camaro Z/28 Swap Meet Find.

The Muncie in the67 isn't original. I am betting that it was a Saginaw equipped car originally.
