nova ss 350 lt1
Does anyone know if there was any 1970 nova ss made with a 350 lt1
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
There were about 175 Yenko Deuces made with that motor...<span style="font-weight: bold">they were </span><span style="font-weight: bold">not SS cars</span>, but rather a COPO ordered vehicle specially built for Yenko Chevrolet. The L48 350/300 horse small block was the most powerful (and only) "small block motor" available in the 70 SS Nova.
There are some real Deuce experts here who can tell you the whole story... wilma |

Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Well I have my dads 70 Nova SS and he says it's the original 350 lt1 and it's not a yenko
And I'm pretty sure it's a 350 lt1 it has a 3970010 block and the the double hump heads 3927186 so |

Re: nova ss 350 lt1
What's the VIN nbr? Original color, original selling dealer? Trans, and code off the rear end?
It wouldn't be the 1st deuce to loose it's stripes, and be cloned into a SS. |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
I'm not sure where the vin is it has a Muncie m20 tranny and not sure on the rear end I know it's a 12bolt posi
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
The cars body vin is 11427wrn260749 it's paint code is 78 78 which is black cherry I think
I couldn't find the vin on the motor |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Not sure on the dealer my dad was the second owner I think he said it also has factory air
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Bus...Welcome to the site. Here is a link to the 70 Yenko Deuce vin list.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...LIST#Post72575 They are pretty much the only LT1 Novas built so unless your Dad has a one off type car he is probably mistaken.Pics of the engine stampings etc would help us sort it out for you. There are #'s stamped on the block just below the alternator. |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Ok the motor is out at my grandpas farm ill have to go out and get some pics
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
That VIN is not on the Yenko list and the color is not correct for the Deuce...
As for the 010 block and 186 heads...these were the same casting numbers as the 300hp base L48 engine. The only difference was the LT-1 motors had 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves plus the screw in rocker studs (the double hump casting mark was the same)...the block was the 4 bolt version in either case... The only way to tell for sure what motor you have (original application) is by the deck stamp on the pass. side front of the block...that will tell the story. Lots of parts can be changed and moved around in 40 years...get some more info...post some pics. wilma |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
I believe that's the body nbr off the trim tag, and we do not have all the VIN nbrs, or inventory sheets.
Color probably excludes it unless it was a Canadian COPO, but I really doubt that. Air would be the nail in the coffin. |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Good catch Ken on the body number...I just picked up the term "VIN"...
The color and A/C still make this a doubtful find...maybe we will see some pics soon. wilma |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
aren't there a few canadian COPO novas that are not dueces ??
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
So I found a number for the motor its vo309cnj
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1

The cars serial number is 114270w292122 Trans number pob26 The axle number is cbs0324w And it has a 1331 stamped on it It came from a paus motor sales in west point, NE |

Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Its a shame the car was not stored a little better. Makes it harder and more expensive to bring back.
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Yea I know but it was stored in the best barn on the place tho
Here is the interior https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...71-photo_4.jpg |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
that is pretty rough!
|
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Where in Nebraska are you located? I see you mentioned West Point. That is where I found my dads old Camaro. It too was stuffed in a barn and the mice & rats had a field day inside it. I am in Omaha and have a 71 Nova that is in the middle of a stalled 6.0 LS and 4L80 swap. I also picked up a 69 Nova in York, another barn find, for my sons 1st car.

Re: nova ss 350 lt1
Im from pender, ne north of west point
what year of camaro and color? |
Re: nova ss 350 lt1
The Camaro is a 77 Z/28. Its black on black. It went through 3 brothers in West Point and still survived, barely. Its very rough but it was special ordered by my dad and is the 1st cool car I remember dad having. It was last on the road in the late 90's. It had a square snorkel scoop cut into the original hood, it has Keystone Klassic rims on the rear.

Re: nova ss 350 lt1
