The 1969 COPO 9567 Zl-1 Camaro.

Re: Hagerty Article of 69 Z-L1
Reminds me of the previous post regarding the Garnet Red "COPO" car where they stated that the engine was more important to the classification of the car than anything else.

Al was active on the original F-body list. I saw him at the local show when he moved into the area. Haven't seen him for several years now - don't think he posts on the forums.

I have seen Al's car in person it is a great tribute to the ZL-1 program.
The actual Prototype car was L-78 equipped. |

Re: Hagerty Article of 69 Z-L1
They are not the same cars. The one which sold at BJ was one we sold a while back, which was a very authentic recreation. For example, check out the front spoiler.

Re: Hagerty Article of 69 Z-L1
Prototype B was a styling variation of the ZL-1 prototype. I asked about the 2 car theory during the Echoes interviews. The reply I got was that the one prototype was built at Norwood and was later restyled by CEC to test the look of the car with multiple styling variations while in service at engineering.

Here is some discussion dating from 2005 on the two car theory.

Those aren't the same car.
Al's VIN isn't 9L510204 and his car has AC. |

BTW...the gentleman that made the LA copy contacted me (among others) looking for information on how to properly clone the car when he was building it. When I looked at the photos posted I did not see the hood pins and initially mistook it for a refreshing of the Wallace built clone. All the clones are copies of the original car in different styling variations/changes applied by CEC. |
