4.10 trans gear reducer

It has been discussed here but I cannot seem to find it. Can someone tell me what gear reducer should be used on the 70 Z28, 4.10, M22, F60x15? I know it is the 666F unit but I do not know the ratio that is stamped on the unit. I do need one if anyone has the correct unit. Also need one for a 70 LS6, 4.10, F70x14. Thanks,
Rick

Part number: 1565208, goes with 'key'; part number: 867209

I have never been able to get this small assy to work properly, it spins way to fast or not at all.....

Re: 4.10 trans gear reducer

Rick, FWIW, the '70 Deuces with E70-14 tires and 4.10 gears use the 1 : .833

This one resides on the side of the Roof Deuce M21 tranny.

Thanks for the picture Sam. I think that it may be different on the 70 Z's due to tire size. Also, from the photos I have been looking at it is the same unit the Chevelle uses though the one you posted would certainly fit a lot better! This is a shot of low mileage Z28 with 4.10 so I assumed that is the style these came with???

Re: 4.10 trans gear reducer

With a little help from Chris White and some GM books it appears that I need two of the .8241 units. Thanks to all for the help.

Re: 4.10 trans gear reducer

I've only seen the round type on the Deuces/Z28's, never the square type.

That's why I am doing so much research. I have been finding them both ways. Today (duh) I looked at Charley's previously owned 1100 mile car and it does have the round type. His car and Mark's are within several hundred of each other on the Van Nuys plant so maybe it was a plant variation as the other photo I posted is of a Norwood car. I do not know if the ratios are the same between the two or not. I am guessing that I would still need the .8241 due to the tires size difference. Hopefully it was not the .8333 that Scuncio had.

The square style typically came on 4WD trucks

And Chevelles. Here is just one example of the red survivor LS6 that was at MCACN in November.

Keep in mind that Charley's car is a turbo 400 car. Let me go out in the garage and find the one from my car, also a turbo 400.

Re: 4.10 trans gear reducer

I could be wrong, but I thought I had read on Nasty-Z28 that the 4-speed, 4.10 rear used a square reducer with a .7333 ratio value...

I know I made notes about it ,but can't find my notes...

I have the .7333 and .8241 reducers in stock, and about 10 more ratio values...

hope this helps... Crash

Re: 4.10 trans gear reducer

My Norwood built '70 Z-28 (April) used a square reducer. This is a 4.10 and M-22 car.
