PVC Hose type
 

Any advise on this based on the what I am seeing below?

The pvc hose I see advertised on ebay periodically has a 90 degree bend on the one end. Im restoring a 69 Camaro SS 350/300hp auto car for a customer. We are trying to determine if originally the pvc hose for the 350 application had the 90 degree end or was it straight and just looped over to the other side of the motor?

Many pics I have seen are the Z28 and it seems to have the 90 degree bend on the pvc side - but cannot seem to get a good pic of an original 350/300hp car.

Thoughts/advise most appreciated as usual.

Eddie,

All the Chevrolets I have seen with the PCV in the valve cover were 90 degree bend. A straight hose would look kind of oddball going the short distance to the front of a Quadrajet carb.
The closest I have to what you are working on is my 68 Nova SS survivor with a 350-295 horse
motor. It has the original hose which is a 90 degree bend. A straight hose would never work on my car because it would interfere with the air cleaner snorkle.

Absolutely! A straight hose would never work and fit like a molded hose. The correct pcv hose has a molded 90 degree bend and is secured with a special hose clamp. Here is an example on my '69 SS350 engine (*note--it is the same one that is being sold on ebay and HBC)

I was told that these orig hoses have dates on the as well. Have u seen that?

The date of &quot;<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">03 18 9</span></span>&quot; is consistent with the build date of 06A for my '69 Chevelle. Here is a shot of the top of the engine shortly after I bought the car in 2006...</span></span>

Leaks like you need some new fuel bowl gaskets.
That PCV hose you show is a current modern day issue,that should have the last 2 digits showing the year..example &quot;03 18 98&quot;.
Someone then wiped off the last digit &quot;8&quot; to make it appear as though it was 1969,which,to be from 1969,woulda shown &quot;69&quot;..not &quot;9&quot;.
That,and other things on it are a dead give away.

Aha! Other dates on hose are the same way. I'll take a closer look to see if they were tampered with. Nice pun (&quot;Leaks like...&quot;) Like I said, that foto was when the Chevelle was &quot;new&quot; to me.

I thought that the original PVC hoses had some ribbed lines like the original heater hoses do.I believe the hose on my 69 Z is original to the car and has ribbed lines on it with no markings from what i can see,maybe due to the age.Anyone else have a PVC hose with ribbed lines out there??

Ed Most small block applications are the same in many ways. The 350 and Z/28 share the same 90 degree bend. I have the original hose on my SS nova and do not see any dates or ribs. Maybe the supplier had a rib design at one point but actually I never saw an &quot;original&quot; ribbed PCV hose but I am sure they are out there...........somewhere! Sal's representation looks great.

Sam,take a look on the back side of your PVC hose.That is where the ribbed lines are located on my hose.

From my 307 car with 13K miles. Looks like the PVC hose is alligator with ribs. I have not checked for dates, will do that tomorrow.

Nice pic. Looks like what is on my 69z as well

Let me check with a Aussie guys and see if anyone has a kangaroo hose...I like those better:-))

What ever you decide to do please take some thinner and wipe the ink jet coding off the hoses, ink jet technology was not around in the late 60's.
