Read the thread below. It isn't the earliest discussion of the car, but is probably the most exhaustive... and exhausting.

Car was at the super car reunion in 2007, fresh from paint. It is a beautiful car, unbelievably straight. Personally, I would not consider clearcoating a black car, but then, I am not the owner.

Because that thread has been locked, out of respect to the mods who made that decision, it is probably best to not beat on this dead horse from either direction. There will never be a consensus. Just my .02 cents.
