Mecum 68 Biscayne
If anybody is at the mecum auction this weekend in Indy and able to take pics of the black 427 Biscayne, I am looking for some close up pictures of the tailpipes, how and where they exit behind the rear wheelhouse, and their position on the tailpipe hangers. Probably the only original set of L72 tailpipes left. Thanks for any help!

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
Wish I had seen this sooner as I am back home now. I inspected this car for the buyer and took a lot of shots. Unfortunately the tail pipes were not one of them! I can put you in touch with the buyer who I am sure would be happy to send you some shots when he receives the car. It was an amazing car to say the least!

I like the selling price. Need to get mine out again on the road. Not many real ones with paperwork out there.

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
Steve,
Sorry no tailpipe pics.....but here are some from another web site. Perhaps Brain Henderson has better pictures. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps3c217d05.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psa040a077.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps7f8a01cd.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps104ecc28.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pseb6c71c5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pscadef390.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psfc862999.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psf17f3677.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pse4dfd66b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps7003e023.jpg Dan |
Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
There was a 68 Biscayne 427/425 at Wisconsin dells show. It had Canadian paperwork, said one of two built. Originally red, but currently painted black.

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
There was a black 68 in NY several years ago in one of the magazines. Not sure where they get how many in what color numbers. Mines got to be one of less than a dozen the way it's equipped though. Not many 427/425 with m22 factory 4.56 gears, F41 suspension and power disc cars that I have seen.

Micky,
Can I get the data from your biscayne for the list. I remember you were going to take pictures the last time you messaged me. Warren |

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
I have it where I can get to it now. You want a cowl tag shot Warren? Anything else?

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
Thanks. Yes cowl tag and pictures of any documentation you may have like, pop, invoice, window sticker or build sheet.

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
I took some pics of the exhaust tips but it looks fairly new and I was in a hurry but looked like maybe Flowmaster mufflers. I'll post when I get a chance.

Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
Nice detail pics Charlie.
Also there is at least another black '68 L72 Biscayne in existence. It has it's protect-O-plate. It resides in Western NY and was tucked away for a while. It's been going through a frame off restoration over the past few years. Hopefully we will see it in the next year or so. It's been set aside while an all steel '40 Willys is being reborn. |
Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
Good pics. That exhaust does look new and the mufflers do look like Flowmasters or the equivalent. The rear shocks don't look like originals either (to me). Still one heck of a car. Not to hijack, but.......I
wonder what the outcome of the black Nova for $190K will be, any discussion there at the sale? |
Re: Mecum 68 Biscayne
Thanks for the great pics Charley!

Here are some that I took. There were a few items I saw that had been replaced but for the most part it was indeed a virgin survivor. I did not have my paint gauge with me but it looked like maybe the drivers door and quarter had been spotted in. The paint was remarkable on this car.
