National Trails Racing!
Great day in Hebron, Ohio with a nice rear quartering wind to boot! Thanks again to Doug for organizing and renting the track for the entire afternoon. Saw a lot of Columbus and NEO folks and even a "kid" from Donahue!

That reminds me Sammy, I met the original owner of Benny's COPO yesterday. Nice fellow with cool stories.

Re: National Trails Racing!
Very nice. How fast did Burchy and Mike go? I am also glad to see these killer cars are not lawn ornaments either.

Re: National Trails Racing!
Sammy - Let's take our cars over next time & show those Ohio boys how it's done!

Re: National Trails Racing!
Well it was a great day for all the guys to get together and have some fun. Great job Sam on the coverage ...very well done...Joe is on a plane right now with his tail between his legs ..lol. I really enjoy everyone's company and glad to see everyone get home safely. We had 26 cars in all ...Tom ..you are always welcome here ...Joe and I talked about it and thought 12 hour drive for you was probably stretching it. But we would love to have your folks come up for a day of fun. As always we were trying to tame these animals ....Grady was fighting an ignition problem and I was fighting a new competition plus shifter problem...those M22s are fun but tricky.....my best was 12.34 @113 .....I had 2 favorite moments of the day. Seeing my friends together . And second ...seeing my cousin in his Mopar taking his brothers ashes down the track for the first time with his fastest ET ever at 9.22 and fastest mph ever 150 . Frank was with us for the day. Guys thank you so much for being a part of our race day...Kuddos to Sam

Re: National Trails Racing!
low 12's is very respectable for that car!
|
Re: National Trails Racing!
Problem is it went 12.20 last year And I know there is more ET there.
|
Re: National Trails Racing!
Sammy, I sucked yesterday I need a good old 2 speed power glide, I am to slow on the shifts. Had fun and did not brake anything. My best was a 13.67, I was hoping to get closer to last years 13.45. Great some good friends again.
Mike |
Re: National Trails Racing!
not really that bad Mike. You guys were not trying to put anything on KILL mode so that is respectable IMO.
|
Re: National Trails Racing!
Thanks for the pics Sam!! Wish I could have been there as does Phil!! We were at the ugly 4 letter word that begins with "W" and could not get off!!!!

Re: National Trails Racing!
I had a blast! Thank you Doug for inviting me. My best time ever at Trails, 13.32 @ 105 mph!
Andy btw, I drove my car to the track, and home, 50 miles round trip. |
Re: National Trails Racing!
Doug; Keep me in mind the next time you do this. I am not doing many show only events any more, but always enjoy a day at the track, even more so with a lot of cool muscle cars and a bunch of friends. Also, being an Ohio car, (sold out of Cleveland and raced in the Columbus area), would be cool to run the Deuce there.

Rob (my oldest son) AKA "Chevy454" is the PSMCDR guy. When it comes to racing cars on skinny tires, I suck, I am more into race cars, like the Deuce, Red Alert, Novacaine, etc. |
Re: National Trails Racing!
Tom. You got it. I will definitely give you advanced notice to come out and joking us....I live 20 minutes from the track Also I have plenty of room at my house for trailer parking and plenty of room for your lodging at my house. Can't beat that with a stick. Your car at National Trails... Is almost a homecoming.

I would say definitely a homecoming..as the second owner lived/raced in the Columbus area. According to this ad in National dragster, a NHRA Division Champion, most likely won at National trails.

Re: National Trails Racing!
If nothing else, I need to come your way to buy you and Dave a steak dinner or round of drinks for helping us acquire the Deuce.

Re: National Trails Racing!
Tom there is no better home for that car than Alton Mo. Seeing you enjoy the car and that's what you were looking for ...is enough payment for us. That area code in that ad is Columbus. Maybe we can drag out the Mayor from Donahue next time !

Re: National Trails Racing!
I just want to say a big thanks to Doug for the invite again this year. Its always a good time. It is always good to see Grady, Mikey and Sam. Too bad you all had to get back home so soon. Also as you all have seen my time slips(both posted were mine) the 2nd one the tranny stuck in 3rd and I got out of it. I think I might need to get some more passes with a 4spd with a line lock. Thanks Doug for letting me run the car its not everyday you get to take a COPO down the track.
I believe also it would be cool to see Tom and the deuce back in Ohio. Maybe next year? I just might be there. Joe |
