1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
1970 Camaro L78 - One of 600 built.
396/375 – Not original to the car but all date and number correct. M21 trans – Not original to the car but date and number correct. Rear end coded COX – Original to the car. However, I think it has 4.10 gearing. This car is well known in the hobby as it attend several national events and has been the subject of many technical and restoration threads. There is no need to worry about any mysteries with this car. First and foremost, it does NOT have its original engine or transmission. However, upon purchasing the car in 2006 I proceeded to search for the necessary date and numbers correct components as well as the infamous dual snorkel air cleaner. For the 70 2nd gen gurus that might be wondering. Yes it has the original radiator but it does not have the original fan shroud. The March of 70 dated motor was completely built in 2010 and has a few thousand miles of break-in. The M21 was also completely rebuilt at the same time. The car runs very well. This car was frame off restored in 2000. I have all the receipts from the restoration as well as my efforts from the engine and transmission build. When I purchased the car it came with a stack of titles from the previous owners. All of which I have spoken to on the phone. The car is out of Decatur Illinois, believed to be purchased new from Miles (or Fahrenbach) Chevrolet. I have obtained original pictures of the car from early 70s as well as pictures of it from the 80's when the restoration was being started. Per a previous owner the car had several buildsheets but only one survived which I have. Obviously this is an LA built car. I believe that many will agree that the blue/blue combination is very striking. It is registered in the NastyZ28.com L78 Registry and with just about 40 cars registered. To my knowledge it is the only L78 with blue interior/exterior. It was recently featured in the January 2013 issue of Camaro Performers: http://www.camaroperformers.com/featured...78/viewall.html The car was also featured at: 2006 Supercar Reunion 9 2007 Chevy Vettefest L78 Display 2011 MCACN 1970 Camaro L78 Reunion. Car is currently in storage but I will be bringing it home soon. So if additional info or pictures are needed, feel free to ask. Asking $50,000.00 and I will listen to all reasonable offers. I no longer have storage space for the car so it will sell. Those interested can reach me via Cell 6304610888. I have seen this car at MCACN, and I can say it is everything and more that Darren describes. One of the best colors on a 2nd Gen, and done well.
You can't go wrong on this car, it is very well known on NastyZ28. RichPern |

Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
This is one outstanding Camaro and I agree with the others here, it is one of the finest second gen Camaros around. Darren is a car guy thru and thru and a really stand up guy, and you just can't go wrong owning any car that he has owned. If I had the $$$$ this add wouldn't even be necessary because this car would already be in my garage......good luck with the sale Darren, the new owner will be one lucky man!!!

Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600

Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
As one 2nd gen L78 owner to another I hope you do well on the sale, not to mention a great guy!
Speaking from 1st hand experience, these cars are not cheap to restore and having the original 'XY' radiator in the car is priceless, I have NEVER, EVER seen one for sale! IMHO they are worth more than a dual snorkel air cleaner. Someone will be getting a SWEET car! |

Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
Indeed a great car that is turn-key ready that is being offered by a stand up hard core enthusiast that lives and breathes 2nd Gen Camaro's. And yes, the blue/blue color combination is a stunner.
We were honored to be able to host this car and its owner at MCACN 2011 in the L78 Reunion display. Congrats to the next caretaker! Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
For you guys thinking about it, I got several calls on my 70 L78 after I sold it saying that they were kicking themselves for not jumping on the car earlier.
In fact, one of the guys called the new buyer and cut a deal with him to BUY THE CAR! Mid 40's is sweet for this car if you want a real no excuses 70 Camaro L78. RichPern |

Darren,
Hoping you do not.....but If you still have it by October....take it to Mecum. If all that have posted on the thread, 4 pages.....including myself.....were all at Mecum and a bit tipsy (drunk).....this Camaro would have SOLD and for more than $42.5K I know I am right! Do it Darren Dan |
Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
Its a shame that a car of that caliber and knowing who owns it would have to go to auction and not be bought by a friend, a member of the Site or a car guy in the Chicago area. Must be the color.
|
Re: 1970 Camaro L78 - 1 of 600
Not the color. The color is right and one of only a few L78's (Camaros)that are not green!
