Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
The Atoll Blue is gorgeous with the Judge stripes accenting the wheel arches.

Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
That's a good looking spoiler, GM got that one Right!
Dan |
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
They eventually got it right... the first design 70 Judge Spoiler weighed a heck of a lot more PLUS the stands were wider and only went through the decklid skin (not the skin plus the inner structure like MOST of the 70's) Can you guess how bad the decklids were dented around the spoiler stands?
Here is a Promotional Photo showing the wide stands and then shots of the 10A Judge Conv I did 13 years ago. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-B...dver2small.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-J...JudgeTrunk.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1...cklidholes.JPG |
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
Mine is a 3A built. I will have to look to see if mine is only thru the deck skin or not.

Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
The front bumper is a very cool and very heavy. It is a very dense piece of rubber!

Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
Promise us you will do the "bumper test" with the crow bar after you get the bumper painted and put back on the finished car!

James
very good info on the spoiler! My 3E Judge is mounted thru the deck lid not like the picture you showed and it was dented around where the spoiler mounted. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps9ea8185e.jpg |
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
Working on the bumper. We are trying to decide what to use to fix the imperfection's with being rubber. Any thoughts?

Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
Fusor and others have great automix urethane repair products.
Prime it with flexible parts primer (Spies Heckler is the best I have seen... sprayed a blown up beach ball allowed to cure and deflated the ball... the ball was still completely covered without stress cracks in the primer) |
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
took the GTO back apart after test fitting components and back to work doing the bodywork .

Me too. Great design. Is that a little welded patch on the driver's side rear of the hood? What kind of damage was there? I'm trying to imagine how a rust hole would get in that particular spot (if that's the case). K |
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
Very common with Ram air hoods because the scoops would let the water lay in the back of the hood and they are always rotted out.
|
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
Thanks for the info Don, makes sense. The guy that fixed it the first time didnt address the rust issues and it came back . If you look at the picture you can see the old rust square is laying the other side of the hood on the bench. Here is how he fixed the bottom of the fenders. Please forgive me if someone out there fixed this like this its not my intent to bash you

Don
Looks great to me! Love that color. I see the scoop inserts are black? |
Re: 70 GTO Judge Resto
All 1970 Judge came from the factory with the scoops black. 69 they were body color.

So scoop color has no correlation to engine option for either '69 or '70? How's things Don, spring has sprung! ~ Pete |
