1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
Leake Auction will be selling, with a reserve,VIN 124379N614999 1969 YENKO Camaro in Oklahoma City next weekend Feb 23/24 . The car is bank owned and is posted in the VIN List . I saw it today at the Starbird Show in Tulsa. Older restoration that has a lot of wear. Poor paint and body lines. Filler is showing in a lot of areas it should not be in. Did not get a look at the block pad for a stamp. The information on the sale was given to me by a LEAKE employee. Fathom Green is also in line with the VIN info.

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
If that car is as described condition by members here, that is not a #2 condition car as stated by the auction company.

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
That car is a 2 - to 3+ . Paint has flaws , many . Panel between the back window and trunk has poor seams. Valance panel was crunched and poorly repaired. Chrome and stainless need refinishing.Paint is dull and has lots of oversray areas like it was not jammed well. Intake is badly stained and discolored. Smog is on it , Interior is good. CHEAP hood insulator . Just not sharp like that car deserves to be at. Probably restored 15 years ago and stored poorly in a larger collection?

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
Not for nothing, but i bet we can pick on ALL cars for some type of flaw. Regardless of paint, fit, parts missing. There is no such thing as a PERFECT car anywhere. Biggest part now a days is making sure we have a REAL car first.

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
I remember the car at Indy in the early '90s, restored condition then. So I think the resto is over 20 years old and sounds like the current condition reflects that.

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
Car sold for 190K

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
Wow....
|
Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
It did get hammered at 190k, but the buyer backed out later claiming he thought it was a numbers matching car when he bid that much. The car belonged to the bank so after the sale fell through they took bids on it last week. Not sure how much it took to get it, but a friend bid 110k and didn't get it, so something north of that.

Don Clark in Texas owned it a while back, don't know who had it before then or who did the resto.

Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
Thanks Marl!
So this would be the Yenko Don brought to SCR-3/SCR-4 etc. Also seen in this linked footage w/ Dennis Gauge on Classic car. http://www.streetlegaltv.com/news/vi...-yenko-camaro/ Was Don a past owner of ZL1 #9 discussed in recent threads here? ~ Pete |
Re: 1969 YENKO 614999 Auction
My Yenko was body 12437NOR219786
with VIN N614906 pretty neat sequential body numbers but my vin is 93 units earlier. Same color sold out of Colonial Chevrolet in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Please explain that one? |

I have not done any in depth research on the topic, but it seems fisher body organized their body production by body style and options. So similarly optioned big block convertibles, Z28s or yenko camaros for example would have probably been grouped into a batch, therefore having similar or sequential body numbers. The vin numbers were probably assigned on a "first come first served" basis. Since the body's were produced close in time, their VIN would be close as well, but not necessarily sequential Just my hypothesis... |

The VINs were asigned at a different time relative to when the rolled down the assembly line. |

It had nothing to do with production scheduling. Fisher built to Chevrolet's schedule, not theirs. The Gibb ZL1s were ordered/confirmed at the same time and aren't even close to being built in body number sequence. The first Gibb ZL1 ordered, 222001, was #14 final-assembled on or about March 6, 1969. The first ZL1 built 222002 was final assembled December 30, 1968. Neither is the first ZL1 Camaro ordered-that's #3 211785. Yenkos are the same-the groups were ordered/confirmed at the same time but not built in order # sequence. |
